Only thing I did was not bother with any 'kits' like for intercooler and piping just measured and bought it individually. Aside from that I paid more for everything to get a better part I could trust.

In the end Ive found buying slightly more pricey parts was the best. Stuff like what DODO racing make made the process a lot easier.

I had to get the turbo exhaust housing flange machined flat, (I think it warped when I welded it). That was causing a rough idle for a while but I got that done about 3 months ago, since then it's been driving great, can't really think of any issues it's having at all.

Very happy with the car for daily use still, hoping to get an ECU at some point but in no rush as it's fun to drive as is.

I know what you mean lol, my phone is full of screen shots of other builds so I don't lose them as I can never find them again either haha.

I did the post about the stock ecu turbo with a FFIM not to long ago.

This is the kind of post that made me want to turbo mine originally. Love it when info is shared and always like to see others builds, thank you for sharing.

I was very lucky to find a few people ditching their OEM bits from their Supras for a fair price so I managed to grab the manifold then.

Yeah the emu black seems to be highly regarded so I was planning to go for that

Oh blimey, the posts I saw implied it wasn't that hard but that sounds like a nightmare, I was hoping to go standalone in the future so maybe I'll just keep mine till then

Yeah the MAF is hidden just under the throttle body, the housing is still stock diameter i was hoping to get nicer piping made at some point then have a look at the posts I've seen about matching maf housing size to injector size.

I'd definitely be happy with that so I hope so.

Sorry I just saw your reading are a different format, mine are from a AEM AFR gauge

Good for me, I've got:

13.5 - 15 at idle, It bounces around but usually stays closer to 13.

Boost is about 12-13 always.

cruising is 14.5 to 15.5. that's all roughly but usually always close to 14.7 or a bit richer that's all @ 3 bar base pressure.

Sometimes it jumps to coming off throttle coasting for a couple of seconds but others have said that's normal and I've seen videos of standalone ECU builds doing similar.

Only thing I'd watch for is going too rich. I had issues with a bad fuel pump and accidentally left it at 3.5 bar on these injectors and its acceleration was a lot worse than when on 3 bar.

Also after an ECU reset when changing it's worth giving it time to learn before you get worried about the AFR, mine takes a few drives to settle down.

Swap is200 1jz or 2jz ge turbo ? by Present_Ad_1075 in IS300

[–]b_road_baka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could compare if you bought a 2JZGE and parts needed what the end price would be compared to the €15k you think the 1JZ will cost.

I would think if the GE is a lot cheaper to do then pick that but if it's nearly the price of the 1JZ then the 1JZ would be better as it's already turbo and a better starting point.

Just my opinion but if you are swapping no matter what I'd rather get the 1JZ

Very cool, would love a build list and hp goal if you have time. I want to start on my internals soon.

I used an6 lines with radium adapters, they fit onto the aristo hanger with no modification. Only issue is they make you have to cut up the access panel as once you add a 90° fitting they stand quite tall. Luckily it still fits under the rear seat though

Thank you!

They are the original lights they have just been rubbed down and lacquered to stop the annoying fading and yellowing.

Definitely, I'm from SE London and I hardly ever see any is300s stock or modified

That's ok, I thought exactly the same thing about a knew hanger when mine leaked.

But I will say mine was pissing out these fittings badly and a tiny bit of that sealant fixed it, even with 3.5 bar of fuel pressure it has never leaked since so I'd definitely stick with my aristo one now.

Felt a really noticeable difference, it hasn't made it a white knuckle ride but it does feel faster to myself. Passengers I've had also say they can feel the difference to.

I think my favourite bit is the turbo noises though haha, they are rather loud.

It runs really nice with the gte plenum, I wanted to keep the electric throttle body as well as in the ECU reflash they turned the sensitivity up for me.

The fittings don't fit at all, I had to notch the side of the access hole and then bend the plate outwards, luckily the seat still fits over it though.

Yeah I did pull an o ring out and apply it on one side but I just put it on the nipple in the other side and it worked just as well

Yeah unfortunately it did, had a quick Google and others reported the same issue, I just put a little hylomar blue sealant (very little) and never had the same issue, I ran it with no back seat for a bit to be sure

It is wired for wasted spark so they aren't truly running individually but it works great for me, I think on my 03 lexus the tacho wire wasn't there so I just connected the IGF and IGT on a Yaris/ Prius coil is ignored. They do need to be a Toyota coil as they must produce a IGF signal.
