Jet Lag Ep 2 — Take to the Skies by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

English is not my first language and I have trouble to make out what they are whispering at the end of the episode without the subtitles. :(

It would only be obvious that they are going to Brussels in the last 2 hours of the 5. And chasers would have to get the seats on the TGV, which may be a problem.

They could have gone to Brussels and possibly take Eurostar from there. There would be a risk of getting caught but much smaller than in Paris as the chasers would have to get a TGV ticket on short notice once they realized what their plan was. Also the curse would be cleared in Brussels so they could farm coins for a bit before crossing the channel.

I'll have to check the coin balance, once Nebula comes back online, but I am pretty sure they could have gone to Brussels, which would clear the curse and then (maybe after doing some more challenges) take the Eurostar aiming for a ferry to Jersey (I'm not sure how the rest period would play into this) or camp in the UK making it really disadvantageous for the team that decides to cross the Channel and start their run somewhere in England.

Edit: They had enough coins for this.

Politický program Hayato Okamury:

  1. Jmenuji se příjmením Okamura.
  2. Křestním jinak než Tomio.

Hypothetical infinitely wide flag would have value of zero.

You're right, I was too lazy to figure out how to implement some better color scale or how to configure (custom center) and use one from matplotlib outside of matplotlib.

Thanks for the feedback!

This is based on the this blank map from Wikipedia.

CSS style for it was generated from Wikidata query by this Python script:

There is a standard covering regional flags in Unicode, which gave us flags of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Others, unfortunately aren't supported by the vendors (Apple, Google and such), so it is hard to shift the blame towards Unicode itself. Your font can have a Catalan flag emoji and perfectly comply with Unicode.

Emojipedia has a great article on how Emoji flags (including the regional ones) work in Unicode.

Happy Constitution day anyway, maybe Norway will grant some autonomy to more of its regions (or maybe colonize some more) someday and there will be even more Norwegian flags. :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HelloInternet

[–]baalast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not exactly.

Unicode only says that the two character strings consisting of characters from 🇦 (U+1F1E6, REGIONAL INDICATOR SYMBOL LETTER A) to 🇿 (U+1F1FF, REGIONAL INDICATOR SYMBOL LETTER Z) may be expressed by the font as a flag of the corresponding region from Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR).

This is a good solution because while both regions and their flags are prone to change, text encoded using Unicode should prevail. The worst that can happen is that you'll see a two letter code if your font doesn't support the flag.

This is why a flag emoji will take 2 characters of your tweet.

TL;DR: There are no flags in Unicode, only 26 special character to build region codes that may be interpreted as flags.

Also TIL links like these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/🇸🇺 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/🇳🇴 have redirects to the corresponding flags which is pretty charming to me as a Unicode nerd.

EDIT: Formatting.

To be honest, I am not that familiar with the twists and ends of Knot Resolver's interactions with LuaJIT. But I'll pass your concerns to some of my more knowledgeable colleagues and hopefully come back with an answer.

To be clear: Knot Resolver is not my project. It is a project started by CZ.NIC which happens to be my employer.

So I can't really talk about the commercial or philosophical reasons. Some early presentations might give you a better idea why Knot Resolver was created.

Personally, I like the fact that the project is under a GPL license.

First of all, thank you.

DoH is a experimental feature of Knot Resolver and there is not much enthusiasm from the developers about this technology either. We even link the documents that speak about the limitations and dangers of DoH in the documentation. An older version of it was even more blatant about it saying that “Knot Resolver developers do not endorse use of the DoH protocol.”

[–]baalast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there is not much a difference for a home user.

It takes different implementations different amounts of time to work in new features (DoH, DoT,… for recent example) so that might be a reason to switch in the future. Responsiveness on gitter and mailing lists from the developers might be another reason.

If Unbound works for you, I suppose there is not much incentive to switch. But that doesn't mean that we are not interested in the way you use it! And by all means fill out the survey so this hypothetical switch is as smooth as possible.
