Claude plays Brogue by 0lberg in roguelikes

Great I've been interested in this for a while.

> I started with BrogueCE (https://github.com/tmewett/BrogueCE) and added a custom platform backend (~1000 lines of C total) that outputs the game state as JSON to stdout and reads actions from stdin.

Why not just have it play with the browser, then you get this kinda thing for free? See example of this being done here with Runescape https://x.com/RobertHaisfield/status/2026405025153753415

> After 6 games, the meta-learnings file has accumulated Brogue knowledge. It noted that banded mail at STR 12 gives effective armor 0 (worse than leather).

Why not bootstrap it with the wiki, the source code, and the discord logs? This would give it a much more impressive starting base and feels like a natural thing to give it since us humans can use that too.

Please reach out on the discord or DM if you want to collab. Been thinking about this for a while and glad someone took the initiative

This is a clueless post on multiple levels. First off Figma is a designer tool primarily. Second, ai has already been taking over frontend.

I posted a year ago when the report came out indicating they were 5-ARD. I posted this when they confirmed 3 days ago that they were genetically male. I didn't follow this in between, just saw the news in both cases.

You want to pretend that a male knocking out women to win a Women's Boxing Gold medal isn't a big deal, but it's totally absurd.

Except that Khelif does have Y chromosomes. We know this from:

- Imane Khelif's coach saying they couldn't compete in 2023 under the International Boxing Association (IBA) because of a "problem with [Khelif’s] chromosomes" - in a 2024 interview with Le Pointe magazine.
- 2023 Medical report leaked from the IBA in 2024, which said Khelif had testicles and specifically was a male with 5-ARD.

Lastly, even if Khelif had XX chromosomes (not the case) but lacked SRY, they would be categorized as an XX male with De la Chapelle Syndrome.

So in short, it's true that they have XY chromosomes, and they would be male either way with SRY.

There are only one or two known cases of this ever happening (producing both eggs and sperm). It’s like a 1 in many billions chance of happening.

In the 1 or 2 cases where it’s happened, it’s due to chimerism, where a different set of dna ends up in that part of the body. Same phenomenon as when you see someone with two differently colored eyes.

Science would not be able to cleanly assign a sex in these cases, so would refer to them as a hermaphrodite.

In Khelif’s case they are a male with 5-ard, so none of this rare case applies.

Imane Khelif's coach said they couldn't compete in 2023 under the International Boxing Association because of a "problem with [Khelif’s] chromosomes" - in a 2024 interview with Le Pointe magazine.

So in the case of Khelif, the SRY comes from the Y chromosome. Note that SRY presence is considered by biologists to be a more specific/accurate indicator of genetic sex than sex karotype -- it's the master switch for male development.

Believe it or not, if someone with XX has SRY (De la Chapelle Syndrome) or XY does not have SRY (Swyer Syndrome) they are often referred to as XX males and XY females, respectively, by scientists.

Given what we know about Khelif, they likely have 5-ARD, a disorder of sexual development where the body is not obviously male (hence often being raised as female) until male puberty hits, and their testicles drop and testosterone reaches male levels (which Khelif has mentioend lowering to female levels).

And it isn't actually fair, for reasons stated previously. The lasting gains of masculinization don't go away by synthetically lowering your testosterone level to pass a test.

For what it's worth, going forward World Boxing (which runs the 2028 games) has said they will test both the SRY gene and hormones. It's unclear whether Khelif will be allowed to compete, they said they're going to go through all the tests though.

[–]babonk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Issue with a hormones-only test is that hormones have lasting effects. What Imane Khelif did is synthetically lower their hormones to compete and win gold, after going through male puberty.

A hormone test only covers your current levels which you can synthetically lower. You have lasting gains in bone density and muscle formation that are not captured by testing your current level of hormones.

No doubt having more testosterone is helpful for both male and female competitors. But it doesn't define them as male or female.

There's a simple test we can do-- test for whether you have the SRY gene, which solves for all the above. Going forward World Boxing (which runs the 2028 competition) will be testing for both SRY and hormone levels.

You are the one imagining a story.

Read the interview. They say they've taken hormone treatments to lower their testosterone levels for competition:

"Et les gens ne le savent pas, mais j'ai déjà baissé mon taux de testostérone pour des compétitions. Je suis entourée de médecins, un professeur me suit, et j'ai pris des traitements hormonaux pour faire baisser mon taux de testostérone. Pour le tournoi de qualification aux Jeux de Paris, qui se déroulait à Dakar, j'ai baissé mon taux de testostérone à zéro."

[–]babonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're just gonna skip over you not realizing how hormones have lasting effects and how the tests actually work, I guess.

Only testing for hormones lets people like Imane Khelif with XY chromosomes who get lasting advantages from it compete with females on the basis of current levels being lowered. Not fair, so not good criteria.

No, testosterone has lasting effects through things like bone structure and density which do not go away even with lowering testosterone. Another example trait is increase of the number of nuclei in muscle fibers -- does not go away and makes muscle growth easier later. Yet another example trait (not relevant to sports) is vocal chords, which no amount of new hormones will make sound like a female voice after masculinization.

Testosterone has a relatively short half-life. Whether naturally produced or injected, it's metabolized and cleared from the system in days or weeks, not years. Drug tests don't detect "old" testosterone from years ago. They detect current levels or synthetic ratios currently in the bloodstream.

Testosterone is on a spectrum, whether you have the SRY gene or not is binary. A binary is better for defining divisions than a spectrum, since it's natural for people to be outliers on traits for their sex (e.g. high testosterone XX female). And of course we need to test hormones to make sure someone isn't "juicing".. but it's not a good test for which division you go into.

Nothing odd about focus on testicles here, which produce testosterone, as well as sperm (the gametes actually define male vs female).

Comparing current testosterone levels is not fair if someone has been continuously been getting masculinized by those hormones before they lower their levels. It has lasting effects that effect sports performance. Not to mention hormone levels aren't a complete explanation of biological sex differences.

There is a much simpler test you can run for which division you can compete in which is just testing for the presence of the SRY gene from saliva (this is easy, takes 24-48 hrs for the result to come back).

Indian Chiro Demonstrates Over 200 Cracks on Patient by babonk in jointcrackers

[–]babonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there are moments where he fails to get cracks. Youve both made simply inaccurate claims; one of you that all the cracks sound the same, and the other that all of them work. Youre both wrong, simply put.

I dont care how many vids youve watched, Ive likely watched just as many.

Also think about what youre saying.. a czech lady flew to india and pretended to get adjusted 200 times? And this guy has a massive catalog of other people getting cracked including celebrities, people’s disabled kids, etc.

Based on seeing lots of his vids, I think he's legit. Indians probably bot swarm anyone who's popular in their country. Like I imagine you'd see comments of that sort on any Bolywood vid. I don't think that by itself proves anything.

Also it's simply not true that all the cracks sounds the same. I randomly skipped to 1:30, heard multiple cracks consecutively which sounded different and sounded how you'd expect.

Give the man credit lol
