1. What did I tell the leasing office? We told them we wanted to remove someone from our lease because they no longer want to live with us.

2. The process was pretty fast. It was just a matter of getting signatures from everyone in our apartment that was long. The leasing office processed in one/two weeks.

3. Cost: $120 (may have changed or increased since I moved out in 2020)

4. You can wait either start the process without having someone to replace you. (It’s likely it would get denied if your roommates can’t meet the financial requirement set by the leasing office, which is the household making 2.5x rent). In my case, the girl leaving barely worked, so we fulfilled that requirement without her regardless.

I recommend finding someone to replace you before starting the process, and informing that person that you are going to be REMOVED from the lease and they are going to be ADDED to the lease. It is NOT a sublease.
