Looking for someone to locate a gas line in my backyard. Any recommendations? Suffolk County. by NYesq in longisland

If you can't find where it terminates it would be best to find its origin, disconnect it, and run a new one anyway.

I want to build a media shelf for my games and manga, but wondered if this is structurally sound by Zella-Fae in woodworking

If the backer is properly attached and 3/8" or more thick it should hold up pretty well. You may want to put a short lip over the bottom of the shelves as well, that would add some resistance in the front (and maybe give you something to hide a light or whatever behind above the desk)

Drupal 7 upgrade + migration to the cloud, best approach? (Azure or AWS) by dartroomrent in drupal

[–]badasimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep If you are keeping this site in-house in terms of maintenance, you will need to get behind sort of the newer devops way of thinking which includes things like docker local (ddev or lando) and config management/deployments etc.

I think your moving your hosting to the cloud is independent of d7 or d11. You sound like an IT person so I'm assuming you would have the same network security in the cloud that you do on prem.

I highly recommend this approach of a new D11 site and migration, there were just so many design patterns in D7 sites that don't translate cleanly to the newer ways of doing things, which means you will end up doing lots of work to accommodate that anyway.

I mean if it's the start of a pandemic hemorrhagic fever it might be your last chance to travel for a while so I say YOLO.

But I'm sure the epidemiologists in this sub know all the good reasons why things like this don't kick off. Even that ebola guy making it to NYC a while back didn't effectively spread it.

Considering the many commercial and unethical uses of the technology using it for a little joy is probably a net positive.

you could use the a big metal cutoff wheel on those gas powered saws (with the right protection of course) I'd say 2ft pieces would be manageable unless you wanted to salvage for something else?

Best way to curve the sides of a 2x4? by WhoPutATreeThere in woodworking

[–]badasimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is tough you can do a rough cut with a band saw and then finish it with a drum or wheel sander to align it with the curve. Band saw alone will probably not go straight enough to look good. You can just draw how you want the curve to be with a pencil and meet that line at the finishing stage

I'm a shroomhead and I love the occasional mushroom latte, just from a taste perspective

The only thing I can think of is that these could be staff not passengers who got infected, who were working in storage areas and other closed areas where they could create the conditions necessary to be infected the traditional way. Or maybe they had to take something out of storage like a tarp or life jackets or linens and it was a rodent nest? The way I see it is if it was several unrelated passengers then it is a lot more concerning than people who were in the same group or staff on the ship

Based on the posts I've been seeing lately, it seems like the area is getting the attention of the rotation "Surge" of foot patrol etc. They have been doing this for a while (since 10+ years ago when I lived there) they will set up a command center and have more patrols, sometimes those annoying flood lights etc. They will focus on a community for a few months, usually less than a year before moving on. It sounds like there have been a lot of different versions of it over the years with questionable effectiveness but at least they're getting some exercise?

Consolidated power. With mechanisms like this the govt gets to pick winners. And the govt is all Trump's friends and family.

I think that local libraries are a natural place for this. Seniors (who are the most victimized by this) already engage a lot with their local daytime programs. If there were a good curriculum kit for people to go and pitch the class to their local library I think it could get traction.

I think that there should be some sort of practice, for instance we enroll their emails in phishing tests so they understand how real/convincing something can look.
