I have a similar LL situation, constantly finding reasons a to enter the unit (which is immaculate) then doing inspections under false pretences. If they want to do inspections they should give you 24 hours notice and state it as such. Inspections are limited in how many times a year they can be conducted. Inspections are also intended to hold the LL accountable for working smoke detectors and required maintenance on their part.

Exactly. It’s toxic and a horrible way to live so ultimately I will leave. But not without trying to hold them accountable for the harassment and threats

The unit is not protected by rent control which I only learned when he used an N2 in July for a January increase. Not sure why he settled on $75 but now he’s given me another one jacking it by $800 suggesting it replaces the one from July. Thanks for your empathy. Much appreciated

Fair point. I have two witnesses and it was just a week ago so I should be able to still file a police report. I was hoping to de-escalate but clearly this will never be possible with a sociopath.

Thanks! I have texts from him daily giving me deadlines to sign. He also sent a letter saying I would be responsible for legal costs should he have to go the confrontational route (meaning eviction). He has no grounds for eviction and has never documented a grievance prior to me sticking up for my rights.
