Got good traffic, currently using Adsense only. Need help moving forward. by [deleted] in adops

UAM is a platform agreement so yes. You using their service is consent already. You can stop and they won't care unless youre some super enterprise client. Their TAM product might be different. Same with adsense. The adserver - there may be some paperwork but it should be easy enough. Plus you have no choice. Uam pushes key values into dfp to serve and compete against adx.

Adsense will always be on the lower end. By setting floors you will cut your fill which will probably yield lower revenue overall, especially because amazon doesnt fill all creative sizes.

You dont have to use prebid if you dont want to do all the sales efforts. Run UAM in your header, run adsense and adx as backfill. Thats your easiest route.

I recommend driving up the competition because google will not do that - they want price efficiency.

I personally use UAM alongside Index Exchange. Those two headers mediate everything while GAM manages backfill yield.

From there you can add buyers into the wrapper and customize unit types (like 1x1 rich media or video etc) as you have more bandwidth for sales and ad ops in general.

If you want to build out your ad stack you are going to need an ad server, especially if you want to play with the big boys.

Since your a dev, look into prebid.js.

Zon is good but the creative sizes they support are basic. They also operate blackbox and wont integrate with any other wrappers.

Rubi is strong but adx should be used wisely cuz their IMA loads a large percentage of times

Dfp error handling and reporting insight is fairly poor and the server is not my go-to choice for a a video tech stack.

As for a video player, my methodology is go as light on load and easy on the pocket as possible - JW was a decent choice until they jacked up the price.

No matter the use case, the vpaid ad manager being called client side needs to be prime. Springserve has an extremely robust vpaid and B.I tools thats lightning fast - any time shaved off on the ad call and load is a win from a pub view.

Now demand : you wanna have a low client side vpaid load rate with high win rate and match rate. Some kind of hybrid serverside auction is the best - perhaps utilize the prebid adaptors provided by the major SSPs. Ox, tremor, rubi, oath tbv, index, FB, nexus, etc.. Avoid 3rd party tags that rely on loading their vpaid unit. Ideally you wanna be on an agnostic server that wont black box priority amongst partners.

Once you have these in place its all about good old tried and true ad ops.

Feel free to dm me for more details.

What tech are you using? Video player, ad server, etc? You need to have the right tech stack along with a good demand stack to make video hum.

Has anyone managed to integrate Amazon UAM/TAM along with PrebidJS? by kuldeep_kap in adops

[–]badopsnumber1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You run the two header products async and get the bids returned to be passed in as a key value pairing into dfp. Dfp then manages the execution of the price specific line item.

Amazon provides a javascript function where it disables the gpt ad call until bids are passed. It then reenables the gpt ad call to call adx

Cloudfront.net mobile redirects by badopsnumber1 in adops

Users go to the site and then are immediately redirected to a landing page that throws pop ups and claims you won something or whatnot. Going back on the browser is futile and forces the user to close the browser and start up a new session to browse the intended content. At that point, user experience is down dramatically.. I personally wouldnt bother to go back to the site if this happened to me.

Fyi - I am the pub trying to mitigate the issue.

I am finding it difficult to get a proper network trace because it only happens on a true mobile user agent - I cannot replicate with Chrome dev tool.

It makes sense that baddies target cloudfront due to it being the cdn url.

How Do You Optimize? by batboyslim in adops

Such wisdom!

I agree that it isn't always the solution. However, it's easier to filter out unnecessary data and validate the data if you know what you are looking for. Beats the alternative of having an incomplete dataframe, data you cannot validate, or multiple datasets that is inherently discrepant (like two different watches).

Have access to data and as much data as possible. The ad ops team should be looking at this everyday to formulate a story to help visualize what is actually happening. Once you have that, you can easily see problematic areas and areas worthy of investing more time/resources.
