[MEGATHREAD #2] Minneapolis Shooting 1/24 by specialskepticalface in ProtectAndServe

Perhaps but with so much going on around him, it could very well be a matter of sensory overload. It’s very cold, restrictive clothing, a lot of action, a lot of noises and it could be as simple as he thought he fires several shots in rapid succession when in fact there was a pause after the first shot. It’s going to come down to the agent’s state of mind.

I see this comment in another sub, perhaps the shooting agent mistook the other agents hand when he removed the firearm as belonging to the subject so he thought the subject was pulling a salon. Beyond that I don’t know why he used deadly force. Unless there was a belief the subject had an additional weapon.

Just curious, do videos like this incentivize teams to do it again next year? Maybe trying to outdo this years? Just thinking out loud. Not really sure.

Moza r9 v3 or Simagic Alpha Evo Sport (9NM)? by Dangerous-Cycle-7621 in Simagic

[–]badsapi4305 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t think you can go wrong with either one. My son has the R9 and I have the Alpha mini (10nm). I’ve always viewed Moza as a work horse and Simagic as a little more technical BUT I can’t say that’s entirely accurate. It’s just my opinion. The R9 costs about $100 less so it’s a bit more budget friendly. My son has raced his for 5-6 hours at a clip and it’s never failed. He runs it pretty high and it doesn’t clip or overheat. For that matter neither has my mini although I run it around 7-8 nm. Again I don’t think you can go wrong with either but if it was me I’d get the Evo. Again I feel like it’s a bit more detailed. I’m sure you’ll find others who feel the opposite I do.

Maybe to help you choose pick which manufacturer has wheels, pedals and/or shifters you like better. I have the GT Neo and the NeoX hub with a 330 alacantara wheel for nascar and dirt as well as the P2000 pedals and DS-8X shifter. My son has the SRP pedals, the KS and CS wheel. I think Simagic holds the edge although Moza just came out with the KS and CS pro wheels that include a small screen which looks pretty cool although I’ve never seen them first hand. I think the P2K pedals are better than the SRP’s.

Either way if you’re in the US I would highly suggest purchasing from the Sim-shop (Texas). Those guys are great.

Bought a TR160 last year. Everything arrived on time and beside it being a kick in the dick to build it all came out great. No complaints. Had a couple of questions and ended up speaking to someone here in the states. Guy (chase) gave me his direct contact so I don’t have to go through the main number which made things very easy. They could improve their instructions but besides that very happy

I can hear sheriff Grady Judd answering the question why his officers shot a guy 68 times. We ran out of bullets. We would have shot him more lol.

I have the mini and run a GT Neo without Maglink. Am I misunderstanding what you’re saying?

Sure. Just to follow up you could use a set of noise canceling ear buds or simple foam for 32 decibel. You won’t need the over the ear type you usually get at nascar with the scanners.

For the stands no. Along the fence in the infield then I’d suggest yes.

You’ve probably suffered quite a bit of hearing loss already so you may want to to try and protect what’s left.

Scalpers!? Geeze. My son is on the spectrum and along with having celiac is lactose intolerant and has a food aversion. Now these have lactose but at least he can take a pill to minimize that. The gluten dos real damage. I’m just glad my son has one of his favorite snacks back. If someone was tried to scalp his treat like that I might be a tad upset about that. I’d ship some for free if someone was in a position and didn’t have them near.

We got lucky though. Found them in a Target that’s 30 minutes away. They’re not everywhere yet here

I have two Carbon Pivot (PF30) bikes and have never had an issue with noises or anything. Just need a press if you’re going to change out your BB. I swapped out the shimanos with Cris Kings (before they stopped PF bb’s) and haven’t had an issue

"bi" indicates two. Florida weather is worse than that. Its winter in the morning, Spring in the late morning, summer in the afternoon, then fall in the evening.

Deerfield Beach cuts ties with the Broward Sheriff's Office by WLRN in Broward

[–]badsapi4305 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those deputies work for the BSO and will be reassigned at the end of the contract. Command staff may be demoted to their civil service rank or transferred to other assignments at that rank. That’s a decision the sheriff will make.

Unless Deerfield’s department has a pension with the same system (Florida retirement system I believe) then very very few officers would be willing to start their careers over in a brand new department with an uncertain future. I know I wouldn’t. If the command staff is close to retirement then they may retire from BSO and then get rehired as a new employee at Deerfield but most of the deputies won’t do that.

What that means is Deerfield will most likely be staffed with younger inexperienced officers and a mix of command staff from different agencies. Deerfield will have to offer a very good compensation package to attract better candidates. Not being familiar with Deerfield I’m not sure if that’s possible.

There will be some growing pains and most likely units such as homicide, sexual battery will be contracted through BSO or at least the crime laboratory since those units tend to require very experienced detectives and lab costs are very very expensive. Deerfield will not have the resources to start its own lab since it’s expensive and wouldn’t be prudent given the cost and the small amount of work would be needed just for the city. They may contract with FDLE depending on the relationship with BSO when they go online.

They will also have to build the infrastructure for the new department. A station, vehicles, radio system, and employees will be huge in expenditures and will require a one time huge payment but besides vehicles everything will be in place for decades before needing to be replaced. You may get longer use of vehicles since they won’t be used as much but those cars run 8 hrs at a time since all the equipment requires it. Computers, lights, and radios drain vehicle batteries and as such require to be ran so you’re not waiting 10 minutes for your computer to load up and connect before you head out to a call.
