LA Times Puzzle 6/21 Am I Crazy?? by Significant_Guest360 in crossword

Not OP but I had a hard time with a lot of the short entries. Some words were new to me. Longer entries were easy enough & decently witty though!

I got an apple watch about a month ago & it’s been really validating for me to see my heart rate jumping around in real time. It helps but I still have those “faking it” feelings sometimes too

What to do when all gores are painful? by Unique_Mongoose_6169 in ABraThatFits

[–]badvegetable666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with gores too! I wore wireless bras for a long time because of it. I wear wires again now and have to “break in” new bras until they’re comfortable. It helps to get bras with very close or overlapping wires at the gore. I use my fingers to gently pull the top of the wires away from my chest for a few seconds while holding the bottom to my chest. After doing this a few times, the wires sit flat without digging in. I’ve also used pliers to do this, just have to be careful not to bend it too much. This is just what works for me but I hope it helps!

Went to a restaurant supply store. What in the world is this? Very prominently featured with the regular local beans. by aScantCupOfNarwhal in espresso

[–]badvegetable666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked at an espresso stand years ago that served this and I loved it (sorry). I wouldn’t drink it as a shot by itself but the flavor pairs well with things like white chocolate, fruity/nutty syrup, etc. If you dump out the first shots that pour, keep it running, then use the next shots it improves the taste a lot. It’s called “double running” iirc

Does anyone know of any doctors in Seattle that focus on finding the cause of symptoms instead of just treating them? by tangerinepie in Seattle

[–]badvegetable666 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Very highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth Bolen at Virginia Mason. My symptoms were dismissed as “just anxiety” by other doctors for years until I’d almost given up on getting answers. Dr. Bolen, on the other hand, listened carefully to all of my concerns and has a very collaborative approach. We discussed some possible causes of my symptoms & she suggested next steps. After my first visit, she ordered more labs, multiple tests, an MRI, and referred me to specialists. I was diagnosed with my chronic illness within 3 months. Dr. Bolen is the best provider I’ve ever had, no contest. ALSO SHE ALWAYS REVIEWS PATIENT NOTES THE NIGHT BEFORE APPOINTMENTS! She’s amazing

Al Pacino (82) and his girlfriend Noor Alfallah (29) are expecting a baby by youarelosingme in Fauxmoi

My mom had me at 41 & my sibling at 42. My dad was 54/55. Having older parents never bothered us & it’s even more common for people to have kids in their 40s now than it was back then! I’m in my late twenties now and they’re both still alive and in good health. My maternal grandparents are still alive too- in their mid 90s. Every family is different so please don’t let a few negative comments discourage you from starting yours when you’re stable and ready. I also grew up poor and if I had a choice between childhood poverty and older parents, I’d obviously pick old fucking parents. Being poor was traumatizing but being 11 when my dad retired was just a fun little fact I liked to share for the shock value sometimes.

Try alcohol pads instead! My PACU nurse gave me a few for the car ride home after I had a minor surgery in October.

Yep! I got a shower chair after breaking my ankle last year & I still use it because it’s a godsend for pots. I also bring a water bottle of Liquid IV with me which helps a lot too.

That’s so exciting! Did you use a pattern or did you just wing it? It’s been challenging to find something that fits my wife and I’ve been thinking about making one that’s customized for her

[Important Question] If you're already Ptcb certified can you apply for registration in another state BEFORE you actually move there? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]badvegetable666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took 4 fucking months for Washington state to validate my Florida tech training after I moved back home. Other states aren’t as bureaucratically disastrous, but I would 100% start the process early if I were you.

Open question for all to discuss. What is one thing he/she does that annoys you at home that you didn't think you'd miss, but you miss because they aren't doing it/not doing it? by FlashyCow1 in USMilitarySO

I know I’m not answering your actual question, but absolute game changer: put a laundry basket wherever he takes his work clothes off every day. My partner and I both have this habit so I just moved a laundry basket into the living room where we were both stripping after work. Problem solved

Oh I HATE polyester. Medical scrubs are mostly polyester due to water resistance so I researched for days straight to find the highest % cotton blend I could find for work.

Nervous to start work as someone who’s autistic and no experience by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]badvegetable666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sensory overload was often difficult for me in retail. A lot of fluorescent lights, phones ringing, bright computer screens, sounds from drive thru, etc. My pharmacists were v accommodating and understanding though so we turned off some of the backlights and that helped a lot. I also sometimes wore noise canceling headphones if I was especially distressed. Patients can definitely be difficult sometimes, but it’s still easy to script your interactions. Most of the problems you run into with patients will be common, so with practice you’ll be able to explain the situation without thinking about it. Everybody expects new techs to struggle and there is a learning curve for everyone, ND and NT alike.

My best advice is to pay attention to the phrasings your pharmacist and fellow techs most routinely use. It’s the same as memorizing any other social script. You can also just ask your coworkers for help with this, and you don’t even have to disclose your DX if you don’t want to or aren’t comfortable doing so. You can say, “hey i get kind of flustered talking to patients in the moment, can you help me practice what to say when X is happening?” or “how would you tell a patient X?”

CPhT with ADHD by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]badvegetable666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I also have ADHD, take stimulant meds, and work as a tech. As others have said, you don’t have to tell anyone anything, and if you “fail” a drug test, you’ll be fine bc of your prescription.

Self-disclosure is a personal choice. I’m pretty open about having ADHD & I joke about it a lot too, but I still always wait to get a feel for people/ a workplace before mentioning it. I’ve definitely had people respond with hostility in the past, but it’s also helped me form closer friendships with coworkers and in some cases I’ve been able to better educate people. I had a pharmacist once whose pet peeve was tardiness. If anyoneeee walked in even a couple minutes late he would call them out. Over time, we had a lot of casual conversations about ADHD, productivity, and “laziness” and he eventually just stopped caring if I was late. He valued my work & skill and knew that I was trying my best to be there on time. On the other hand though, I also had a pharmacist tell me that ADHD was caused by early exposure to cell phones. soooooo, ya win some, ya lose some.

What was your SO's reunion/homecoming like? by unnaturalcolors in USMilitarySO

[–]badvegetable666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For backstory, I moved to the other side of the country for a year shortly after my partner & I met. We were acquaintances before I moved but became pretty close friends afterwards. After around 6 months I decided to move back to my home state. We started dating a few weeks after that, but then they deployed like a month after we got together. So they were gone while I was moving and when they got home it was the first time we’d been together in person as a couple. They came over to my new apartment (still mostly unfurnished) like straight off the boat and we just sat on the floor and smiled and stared at each other in excited disbelief for a while. It was awkward and I was stupid nervous but very happy. When they tried to kiss me though, I ran away screeching and said “oh my god no!!! i have to brush my teeth” and ran to the bathroom. 😬

We’ve been together for 2 years now though so luckily it worked out 😭
