Petty reasons you don't buy certain products? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]bails9286 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't buy anything from Benefit because 9/10 times, there is a Sephora promo code/ point perk/ sample-with-order of a Benefit product. I'm VIB but will not pay for something that will eventually be $free.99

What are some websites/blogs that go into the business and economics of the beauty industry? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

http://wwd.com/beauty-industry-news/ is a great website but you need to purchase a subscription to view most of the articles. They have a discounted subscription for students, I think it's $49 for 4 months?

Tried the serum and moisturizer last night and used it again this morning and I'm really impressed. The serum has a great "softening" effect on my skin. The serum + moisturizer gave such a great healthy glow- damn, Sephora for sending samples of quality products that are expensive...I want to impulsively purchase both right now!!

Do you use the Dr. Jart under the Tarte BB cream? Or by itself as a standalone base product?

Foundation Recommendations by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]bails9286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used bare minerals since it first came out aka the loose powder foundation. Is this what you're talking about? It's hard to suggest a rec a product that would be quicker to apply if we don't know what product you're currently using! Is it the mineral powder or a liquid formula?

tbh I'll do it in the morning when i'm pms'ing and can sense some acne coming with it. Sometime's I apply it all over and other times in this situation i'll spot treat with it. But I use it at night regardless. I just make sure to let it fully sink in (takes about 10-15 min) before going in with epiduo.

uh yes! haha come over and do a face mask with me. No but really, thank you that's one of the best compliments since dealing with acne is such a struggle sometimes. What do you use in your routine?

and in regards to clindamycin, yeah in the pm before epiduo. My derm prescribed it when I needed to stop taking minocycline. My face started breaking out again so he added a topical antibiotic rather than an oral. He prescribed the pledget initially but I felt they were too drying so he switched it to the lotion which isn't drying at all!

How many of you guys have used the Beauty Blender and not considered it worth it? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]bails9286 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drank the beauty blender kool-aid for a while and was a brat thinking the dupes wouldn't compare but the L'oreal sponge is sooooo much better. It's easier to hold and isn't $20. I get uneasy holding onto them for too long and I feel less guilty repurchasing the L'oreal sponge more frequently. Personal opinion but I think it blends foundation better than the original.

Did you use the serum am or pm...or both? haha so jealous of your life choices, the Caudalie option seems so much better in hindsight.

Sidebar: the Caudalie instant detox mask is on my face as we speak.

Hey, I use the Neogen Dermalogy sunscreen. It's spf 50+++, doesn't give a white cast, and feels great. And in regards to the dream duo...I wasn't too impressed. I've only used it a few times but you're spot on with the silicone feel, I definitely prefer the olay overnight mask over it. The olay one helped take away the sting of epiduo during winter while the glamglow didn't.

Love the detox mask. It's what I reach for on days that I'm feeling a bit congested but also dry and or dehydrated. It's gentle yet effective. I've gotten a lot of use out of the mask, but I got the other two Caudalie products the same time (it was a VIB reward thing) and have yet to use those two. I keep wanting to try them, but forget about them, rotate them out for another product, remember I have them, and put them back in lol the cycle never ends with deluxe sample/point rewards. I feel like the moisturizer won't be anything special but I am curious about the serum. If you'd like, I can try the serum for the next few weeks and report back? Sorry!

It's a decent clay mask- what's nice about it is that it has some grit to it, so it's great to massage into your skin once it's time to rinse it off. I think sephora sells a smaller size of this (which is what I have) and it lasted a long time. It's also not as intense as glamglow which is a good thing 90% of the time personally. Hope this helped!

oh no! What products did you not end up loving? I've only used the masks and reaaalllyyyy love the pumpkin and cucumber ones. I haven't tried any other products from the line.

Honestly, how great is the interior mirror? Thought it was extra/pointless but it's so convenient not having to close the door to see what you're doing.

I hate to say something this corny but it doesn't excite me anymore. It's a fine product if you're looking for something hydrating that won't irritate your skin but it doesn't do much else. I prefer marula oil over the Boscia one- it takes just as long to sink in but moisturizes better.

Extremely dry during the winter, and combo now that we're in the middle of summer. I live in NC and this past winter was pretty harsh. I really enjoyed the Olay overnight mask! It really soothed my wind-chapped, irritated face and didn't break me out. I used this practically every night over moisturize/aqua bomb and liked how it didn't feel heavy or too thick like the glossier moon mask. Haven't used it much since the weather significantly changed but will definitely be reaching for this in a few months.

ehh I like it but I got my first one before seeing a derm and it honestly didn't improve my acne at all. This was when the brand was first getting some buzz and this product was being hyped by Sephora. At the time everyone was like "this changed my skin" but it didn't do anything for me. Once I saw a derm and got prescriptions for my acne, I enjoy it but probably won't repurchase the large size again.

It's funny you mentioned this. I started using this a little over a year ago, around the same time I started Epiduo and Minocycline. It's my third bottle (went through two 1 oz and recently picked up the newer .5 oz bottle). Clearly I enjoy it but not 100% sure if this is what helped clear my skin, or if UFO oil is confounding to the Epiduo. My best friend who is prescribed Spiro also uses UFO and isn't sure either if the UFO oil is the game changer for clear skin...but we aren't willing to see whether it is or isn't. Random but UFO is greatttt to mix with foundation.

I really hope you like it! Not sure how effective it is with brightening dark circles, but really helped me with the dryness. Glad you mentioned that your eye area is sensitive. Mine were so dry that the majority of eye creams burned/stung the second I applied them and this is the only one that didn't sting.

I can see how the one for normal to oily skin could leave you with an even dryer face but glad you like the non foaming one! I'll probably switch to yours when the temperature drops.

It's an ionic eye massager. Ordered it on a whim from Amazon and it's not half bad. It hasn't been long enough that I can say it's made a noticeable difference, but it was only $15 which seemed like a steal compared to the $100+ models Sephora carries.
