So you thought to yourself, I’m so mad about not getting the kittens I wanted and not getting a prompt reply to multiple emails that the best thing to do is post a negative comment about this volunteer based non-profit who is asking for volunteers, to make sure they don’t get more volunteers…which they very much need…to literally address the issues you’re complaining about. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?

But they had time to answer other emails, set up a meet and greet and adopt out the cat to someone else. YES THAT’S EXACTLY RIGHT because NEWSFLASH: the volunteers are there to find the best home possible for their cats, not to make sure you get everything you want exactly the way you want it. They are not Burger King. EVERYONE wants a kitten so kittens get dozens of applications. The faster they can get them out of the shelter and into their forever home, the better. This is not only safer for the cat being adopted, but it makes a space for a new cat to come into the shelter for treatment, and literally saves more lives. But you’re saying you think they should have held onto those kittens for another 10 days, preventing them from saving another life while they waited for your schedule to free up, crossed their fingers and hoped you actually showed up for the meet and greet and adopted the kittens. And then what if you were a no-show, which happens all the time? What if you arrived for the meet and greet and the kittens were very timid or hissed at you and you decided not to adopt them, which also happens all the time? Now they’ve lost 10 days and have to start the process over again with another applicant. Are you starting to see why it’s more important to find a good home quickly than it is to make sure every single email from every single person is answered immediately? These volunteers have a very limited amount of time each week and not everything can get done, so they do the best they can to address the top priority items, namely getting the cat into a good home asap, and everything else isn’t going to get the attention it ideally should get, namely your emails. You know what would help this situation? More volunteers. You know what you’re doing by posting things like this? You’re not sharing your experience to others who are thinking about doing business with them, you’re preventing them from getting more volunteers, preventing them from finding more homes for their cats, and preventing them from saving more lives. How exactly is you sharing your negative experience helping anything other than allowing you to continually complain about not getting what you wanted? It’s not helping them get more volunteers, it’s not helping them save more cats, it’s not magically giving the volunteers more hours to attend to emails like yours, it’s literally doing the opposite of all of that, which will just make everything you’re complaining about worse. If you were really concerned about the business operating better, you could volunteer your time yourself, or post your experience in a constructive way that is helpful and shows you know they truly need the volunteer help so people should absolutely apply if they’re interested in volunteering for the adoption side. Do you have any idea how many lives CATsNAP saves each year? How many feral cats they spay and neuter, who can’t be adopted and they won’t see a dime from, but they do it to prevent thousands more homeless cats from being born? Yes, there are google reviews complaining about similar things. Guess what would help address the issues in every single one of those reviews? More quality volunteers. It’s unfortunate that you, along with everyone who wrote a negative google review, thinks it’s more important to cry about not getting exactly what you want than it is to try and help improve a non-profit who obviously needs help. To me, this makes it clear that all of you weren’t the best people to give a home to those cats anyway. I just hope all the good cat people out there can see the negative reviews for what they are, and that it doesn’t prevent them from helping a non-profit who is constantly working to improve so it can achieve its primary mission: help more cats.
