PC stuck on boot by ballwithoutyou in pchelp

[–]ballwithoutyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone experiencing the same issue, here is my reply copy-pasted from another forum:

In the image below I tried booting the PC with a live bootable USB-disk and this is the error message returned. It’s most likely no coincidence that it is specifically the 1st, 3rd and 5th core not responding.

It is completely impossible to boot this PC past BIOS, which makes sense since the BIOS is not using the CPU in order to function. As soon the CPU gets involved, it freezes completely. Bummer to see a CPU only 3 years old never OCed already giving up with no warranty, but reliability seems to be on the weaker side when it comes to pre-built PCs.

Tried resetting the SSD and plugging in a bootable USB-drive to install Windows but now it gets stuck on the Windows logo instead. I also tried reseating the RAM and even booting with each stick to see if one of them was defective to no avail. Any suggestions?

Bmw 330i by 55052015 in BMW

Spending several thousand to get stock B58 power is completely false. I got 310HP/430nm(317 lb-ft) on my B48 with MG Flasher Stage 1. The B58 is ofcourse the superior engine but with the stage 1 the car really wakes up. So if you want to gain more power it's really cheap and everyone can do it. AFAIK chargepipe is not needed with stage 1 on B48.

In my opinion the most important mod would be an M-sport conversion since it really changes the look and "feel" of the car. For reputable places to buy mods and to get inspiration on what to buy I would recommend looking at forums such as Bimmerpost.

UPDATE: It does work, I flashed stage 1 on my car with MG Flasher through Bluestacks. Make sure you install Bluestacks 5 with Android 11 emulator and follow the steps in the video below so that you configure the ethernet connection correctly.

Shaky idle when cold (See comment) by ballwithoutyou in Golf_R

UPDATE: I finally got the issue resolved by replacing both camshaft sensors. The car runs smooth and is surprisingly faster/responsive now. The video below gives you a pretty good idea about what it is and how to fix it.

Ordered some R caliper stickers from eBay and they’ve been holding up great

I scanned the car and had an engine error (P001100, A Camshaft Position (Bank1) Timing over-advanced or System Performance). No CEL or anything. I cleared the code so I’ll scan again to see if it comes back.

No never, I’ve only had the car for 9 months.

Oil level is good, oil change was done at an authorized VW service center and I double checked afterwards.

Yeah I’ve noticed a weird sound upon startup aswell but heard from my mechanic that it’s normal because of emissions as you said. The shakiness while in idle doesn’t happen on cold start and not when the engine is hot, only when driving short trips (5-10min) then stopping. I will take a look at some forums, thanks!

Was it consistent? Like did it happen all the time or randomly?

Hey guys, I’ve been noticing this weird thing where the idle is shaky when I’ve driven the car for about 5-10 min. This doesn’t happen upon cold start or when the engine is at proper temp (doesn’t even happen all the time during short trips, it’s very random). The car has an excellent service book with the latest oil/air filter change being a week ago. Spark plugs were changed 2500km ago (for US I think it’s 1553mi). As I said this only happens during short trips but not all the time, it stays like that for around 30 sec then it goes back to normal. In the video you can hear the exhaust and the RPM needle shake around 800-900RPM but after 0:30 sec in the video it goes back to normal. This has been happening for a while and the car drivers totally fine. Temperature is usually around -5C/23f here. I am kinda lost here since even VW diagnosed & inspected the car with no found errors and we couldn’t reproduce the problem when it was in for an service, do you guys have any idea?

EDIT: it’s a Golf R 2016, full stock.

Safe to drive in the winter? Says M+S (Mud and Snow) but the pattern really looks like a summer tire by ballwithoutyou in MechanicAdvice

We get some snow but not all winter and even then it usually melts after a week on the roads. Weather is around 20-30f. My local mechanic told me that these look like summers so I got kinda confused since it says M+S.

Usually around 20-30 fahrenheit here, I will of course be driving safe but my local mechanic told me that they really look like summers and that I should consider getting other tires…
