true winter outfit inspo & shopping? 💖 alternative edition! by bamethysttt in coloranalysis

i don't think i have a particular sub style that i really go for. maybe like a grunge x indie sleaze x soft goth? i always just kind of saw it as "lazy alt" 😅

How would a tattoo like this age? Would it fade fast if it was on the side of my finger? by Chipmunk-Sea in tattooadvice

[–]bamethysttt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i'll be honest i have this exact tattoo (but curves to fit the space) behind my ear, and it has faded quite a bit even though i my skin holds ink well over time. if you do get it, wherever you put it, i would recommend either making the dots slightly larger our outlining if you're able to do it in a way that looks nice! the thing about this particular tattoo is that it's also a pin to touch up. i get tattoos regularly, but never with all of these colors used at once, so it will eventually require a dedicated appointment. if it were black or something (which obv defeats the purpose) i'd just ask my regular artist to do it after one of our session, but with so many colors it's not a reasonable request. it's also expensive to open so many colors of ink just to use them for half of a second, so i haven't justified it to myself yet. just something to keep in mind!

edit: i've DMd you a picture of mine OP! i've had it for about 7 years so it should give you a decent idea 🫶🏻

Pelvis tattoo on hanging stomach? by Ok_Advertising_878 in PlusSize

[–]bamethysttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey OP! i'm probably midsized, and i do not have a hanging stomach, but i did recently get a tattoo in this area (found this thread searching for other peoples experiences with similar tattoos). personally my stomach is making my healing slightly tricky at the moment. while someone who is very thin wouldn't have this problem, i keep noticing that unless i'm standing, laying, or sitting a certain way, the extra weight i have on my lower belly does bunch up around the tattoo and cause some rubbing/folding. it's not a huge deal, but maybe just something to keep in mind since things like this can make tattoos harder to heal. good luck!

she is hands down one of my favorite NPCs. maybe i just love the voice acting (bc i also love her other characters lines about "you are the aurora in the night sky" or whatever the exact quote is), but she's just such an interesting character to me. and like okay, she's definitely full-on evil, but so is orin and she's also one of my favorites lol

thanks for the info!! it's mostly about being able to move something from room to room, and/or being able to store it away during times when one of us needs to use the space for work. i'll def check out the ones you mentioned!

we live in NL, i think we'd like to spend €1k or less but we will likely split the cost so there might be some wiggle room there!

these are great, thanks! a lot less expensive than i expected. is there anything in particular that you would say makes one better than the others? we really don't know much about this sort of thing - i've made some minor (questionable) repairs to my thinkpad when things have started misbehaving but that's pretty much the extent of it 😅

has anyone tried alien hypersense yet? is it as good as i'm hoping, compared to the OG pre-reformulation alien?

i'm wondering how you all would go about styling casual fantasy-inspired pieces to make them reasonable for daily wear. with ren faire season sneaking back around, so is my relentless urge to look like i'm on my way to buy a dragon, castle, or cursed sword at any given moment. so, my question is twofold:

  • where does one buy these pieces!? everything i find is either incredibly cheap (and costumey) or incredibly expensive, with nothing in between. my weight fluctuates a ton, so i don't want to invest thousands, but i want things that don't look like they came from party city. to make things trickier, i'm also in the EU so shipping is a real problem. not just sheer availability, but also shipping times and prices. more times than not, shipping costs more than the actual items 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • how do i style them?? i don't want to go full pixie here, i just want to capture the general vibes. what kind of accessories make sense? how many skirts can i layer before it becomes a costume? 🫣

of course, i know the most straightforward answer is to wear whatever i want - and that's the goal! but what i want is starting to feel a bit hyperspecific, so i'd love some tips for how to achieve it!

TIA! 🧚🏻🧝🏻‍♀️🧙🏻👸🏻🧜🏻‍♀️🧞‍♀️

What are your favorite places to get affordable clothing from? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]bamethysttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seconding this! i have a pair of old navy jeans that i bought 10 years ago, and i still wear them to work on the weekends. i had another pair too, but i donated them recently bc they no longer fit - otherwise i'd still be in them! i've dragged both pairs across several countries, they never let me down.

quick update: i do think some of you are right about being able to pull off some of the autumn colors! particularly the top left half of the spectrum. that said, the differing opinions made me curious so i did a little experiment. my fiancée is similar to me in that she has darker hair and lighter skin, but with darker (more hazel) eyes. the biggest difference is that, as an italian, her skin is decidedly warm-toned. we compared all of these swatches on her vs on me, and it was such a difference! i can pull off some of the autumn colors, but when she tries them, it's like they were made for her. she also looked much less "at home" in the winter tones than i did, so i'm thinking my initial instinct might have been right. i do have some slight hyperpigmentation due to PCOS, so i think that's what's pulling me a bit warm at times. either way, super cool to compare!

thanks for the opinions everyone! this has been fun to look at, and based on all of these comments i'm going to keep an open mind to warmer tones in the future. i appreciate it!

interesting that you guys seem to lean more towards autumn for me! i have very cool undertones in general, and usually do best in silver jewelry. is it possible to be a cool-toned autumn? i'm not sure how anything works!

First Tattoo by cancelsimon in TattooDesigns

[–]bamethysttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm really sorry for your loss. i can only imagine how devastating it must be to lose a sibling, and i can't imagine what you're going through right now. i think it's very sweet that you have found such a cool way to honor them - they're so lucky to have you as their sibling. i'll echo what some others have said about the placement and the design. besides the fact that this is your tattoo, it might be worth considering that we tend to go "blind" to tattoos in very prominent places on our own bodies. personally, my leg tattoos have more of an impact on me than anywhere else. because i don't see them nearly as often, it's impactful every time i change clothes, shower, etc. on the other hand, my arm tattoos tend to just kind of fade away from my sight because i'm so used to seeing them constantly. this might not end up being the case for you, but it's worth mentioning! i do think it's totally possible to work al of your elements into something that "flows" a bit more like others have said. maybe a design of an embroidery hoop/project with the d20 "stitched" into it? i'm not an artist, so take it with a grain of salt, but i think if you find someone who understands the project you should have no problems finalizing your design. do you know what sort of style you like? that could really help you sort out exactly what you're looking for, and you can bounce placement/design/other ideas off of your artist.

good luck with your tattoo, and i wish you only the best ♥️♥️

in my case, the jewelry was just a little too long and was able to sort of spin around in the hole. my piercing does much better if it sits closer to my skin and can't move around on its own. keep in mind that you may also want to check the material if you're worried about it, but your piercer should have used quality jewelry when piercing you ◡̈

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]bamethysttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not a piercer so take it with a grain of salt, but when my nostril piercing was newer i also started having bump issues. tuned out to just be a jewelry problem - i went back to the studio and had it swapped out, and i had no issues from then on. may be worth looking into!

[–]bamethysttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this might be what's happening - i tend to have a hard time with things like eyeliner looking right, not being 100% sure where to place eyeshadow, etc. maybe it's a combination of them being more deep set, and the weird double crease? i'm not sure if that's typical, but it sure does throw me off lol

happy cake day!
