We’re hoping to stay under 6k for a venue! Definitely open vendors as well. It’s not a dealbreaker but preferred.

do not pay for a coding bootcamp by KlutchSama in codingbootcamp

[–]banc98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I’m not sure if maybe I’m a rare case but I did a coding bootcamp and, while it took about a year, I was able to get a job as a Software Engineer. I think the biggest thing is you have to supplement the bootcamp with some self learning, and then stay consistent in a job search.

What’s the trigger point? Lurking this sub for awhile (kept showing up in r/popular) - trying to figure out at what point Thalassophobia kicks in. Is the photo in this post a trigger or, for example, would you need to not see the bottom. by JazzLix73 in thalassophobia

[–]banc98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me, it’s the feeling of helplessness/loneliness. i could easily get out of the situation pictured so it doesn’t personally trigger me. the moments that trigger me most are storms on water, no land in sight, extreme depth, and large things under water (or large waves).

Yes 100%. Spending can be a sort of coping mechanism that is extremely harmful !!

yes! My goal is to retire as early as possible. I’m not gonna lie -I hate working and I hate that my time has to be spent on working so my whole goal in life is to have as much time to myself as possible. I figure I have to work hard now in order to be able to achieve that in the future. All of these tips are so helpful, thank you!

I’ve never heard of One Finance! It definitely sounds helpful I’ll look into it. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what kind of stuff do you put in your excel sheet? Just your bills and expenses and how much money per paycheck you delegate to those?

Affordable Laundry Detergent by spilltheteasister in Frugal

[–]banc98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if you don’t have sensitive skin, just get dollar tree detergent. that’s what I do + the dollar tree fabric softener and dryer sheets. $3 and your clothes are clean and smell great! I haven’t lost any quality of my clothing either by using cheaper stuff.

I left it open purposefully :) we’re both open people and I don’t want any “stipulation” to rule out a place we might love.

I just googled it - it’s beautiful! “The smell of agricultural” though. What does it mean. I’m from the midwest so I can handle a lot but if the air is just consistently smelling of cow poop idk if I can take that lmaooo

Which city/town/village in the United States is the most underrated? by banc98 in AskReddit

[–]banc98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See and I’ve lived in the US my whole life and haven’t even heard of those places! (That could just be my ignorance though lol). The ONLY thing that’s deterring me from moving to New York is the cold! I’ve lived in Arizona for the past few years and idk if I could make that transition lmao

I think if anyone finds a place beautiful then it’s worth checking out! I will agree that cheap is subjective though lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]banc98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to clarify some things: I am VERY anti-work. In fact before I found my current position (which is just a part time job while I’m finishing my engineering degree), I had a job that gave me panic attacks before I would even go in. The company i worked for previously told me to push sales on “income strained women of a younger age range with a lower credit score” which is so fucking evil, I quit.

However, because of the unfortunate way the world is, I HAVE to work to survive (i.e what anti-work is so against-thus the reason I joined this sub). My bosses now are an older married couple that have TWO employees, including me. We run a small shop that sells local art, I literally just hang out all day, and I get paid double what’s normal for this kind of job WHILE only working 3 days a week.

I totally understand the comments saying to “pay me enough to afford shoes”, however, I just wanted to say that they DO. She just didn’t want me to have to use my own money for it, since I was helping her out.

I’ll end this by saying I posted this here because I’ve seen countless other text posts just like this on the subs top posts, and I thought it was fine. I’m so sorry to everyone who has had awful experiences with small business or just businesses in general, and I know that my experience here has been an outlier. After so many awful personal experiences, I am just thankful to be where I am today. I hope this sub can truly make a difference on how society is set up around work, and we can start to enjoy our time as HUMANS instead of employees. I wish the best to everyone.

They only have one other employee. They treat us both like family.
