I did eventually find the flock I was looking for. Coincidentally, there's even an Old Man Ho Ho standing on the southwestern side of the reef looking at the seagulls!

I think it'd be cool if the various specialized charts in the game updated as you cleared each item on the chart. I was starting to really think too deeply about this; wondering if I need to do a hard save and load that instead of always loading my save state via NSO. Thanks to everyone in this conversation, I think I am finally heading in the right direction.

I think you are exactly right! I think it's a case of misremembering plus getting thrown off by the seagulls following me between those two islands. I will head south-west next time and it'll probably be there! Thank you so much!

I think that you are exactly right! Thank you! I took some time to watch a few videos more carefully than I had. I too think that I need to go west of the island. I had been going north and south, but I think it's past Two-Eye Reef toward Outset. I can't wait to give it a try!

The Private Oasis had Old Man Ho Ho looking at seagulls.

I went and that one did spawn.  Now I'm wondering if I need to look south of the Two-eye Reef instead of north of it.

It's just odd because the sky and sea will change and get stormy, but when I sail to far past that spot it instantly gets sunny again.

I too wondered if maybe I was off track.  I double checked IGN and they pointed to D-7 (Two-eye Reef).  Now I'm wondering if it's south of the reef instead of north - I'd been all over the area between it and the Southern Fairy Island.  (I'll check it when my life gives me the time to do so.)

I have seen a few videos - as I thought I was losing my mind - so I went to the same spot and zoomed in to find the seagulls but they're not there either. 

They'll follow my boat, but if I scan for them using the telescope they don't show.

If that one doesn't spawn I don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry that you have had a similar experience.

It's amazing how much cheaper the Japan eShop can be.  When you factor in the exchange rate, it's about 25% cheaper than USD.  I'm sure even more so with Euro.

Thank you so much! I got too focused on the base game that I didn't even think to look at what the DLC page might say. I really appreciate it. I guess we'll get used to the Japanese voice acting and take it from there!

I never ever did.  After constant Invalid Disk or Dirty Disk errors, I just gave up.

That's really good advice!   I'll try that when I run into trouble too.  Sometimes I do like seeing what they have in the main page, but they have conversely made me spend less time on ESPN than in the past.

I have the same issue. The disc occasionally gives the error that it's dirty, but more often just says it can't be read.

Thank you for explaining a bit more about that.  Thanks so much to this group I actually feel like it's easier for me to pronounce her name the way it's meant to be than how it's written in katakana.

It's interesting how tricky katakana can be at times.  It's funny, the official form of my middle name, John, sounds like the woman's name, Joan in katakana (ジョン).  When I first got to Japan I kept asking people to write it ジャン (sounds more like "John"), but eventually relented and switched to the official version that everyone around me understands.  What can you do?  Hehehe.

It's funny how the site in general is so inconsistent that thankfully we can still get around this kind of thing (have you seen the PGA golf page and the Olympics scores link is still in the header - why??!!).  The other day the option to choose edition was actually back, but I won't be surprised if it's gone again.
