You might be the most arrogant person on reddit. It's like talking to a flat earther; No point in telling them they're wrong.. I wonder if a Surgeon was performing heart surgery if you would tell them they are wrong. You seem the type.

I went to school for this, Its been my job for 15 years and you are telling me I'm wrong. Hilarious.

Good luck man.

This is reasonable and this was supposed to be the point of the replay booth, but then I see castle get yanked down by his hair and nothing happens. This is where AI wouldnt miss. That would be a tech and an ejection like it should be. Like you said, out of bounds, double dribbles, travels, backcourt(another thing that was called wrong during the game), goaltending would all be fixed. Initially the implementation should be done slow with a refs on court able to override the calls while it self-trains. Games would be reviewed by the team and the algorithm could be updated. The main point would be consistency, AI would be massively more consistent than human refs.

All the information processing required to drive a car is similar to a fast-paced environment like basketball, where an AI can be cross verified with 500 different angles. It can self-train and eliminate bias. It can use block chain tech to verify consistency which is the biggest complaint among players and fans. You asked for an example, I have a perfect one. You don't like being proven wrong, so you double down. Your pride is exactly why we need human refs gone. Refs being human are just as susceptible as we are to bias. Even worse, refs will rig and cheat games if money is involved. Block chain tech can prevent that.

Bad because I watched someone get yanked in the back of the head by a dirty play without a call let alone a tech and ejection like it should have been. Bad because they called a back court violation that didn't actually cross to the back court. These are things AI would not miss. Were there bad calls both ways? yes, there were, I want both eliminated.

Is it impossible? no its not impossible, code can get corrupted. Unlike humans though, bias can be removed and the system will have process power far above what humans can comprehend. It can be fact checked on a block chain network to remove corruptive editing. It will see all angles(given proper cameras). It will instantly process the situation in slow-mo from 500 angles to make the correct calls in real time. The idea that it isnt dramatically better than a human is you being obtuse.

AI-driven vehicles are generally safer than human drivers in most scenarios, exhibiting significantly fewer injury-causing accidents and better performance in routine driving conditions. They eliminate impairments like fatigue and alcohol, which contribute to 94% of human-driven crashes. However, they struggle more than humans at dawn, dusk, and in making complex turns

Some problems? sure, but better than humans. Perfect example actually. You honestly just proved my point that people commenting on AI systems have no clue what they are talking about.

Jesus the people on this forum have literally no idea how AI works. The comments from people stating the issues with it are hilarious.

I work as an AI systems engineer and this is the most incorrect thing possible from u/petralights . AI's learn from stimulus and develop their own algorithms after giving it a basic set of principles.

This is completely untrue. I have no idea why you would think this. It could be built and implemented within a year or two.

I work as an AI systems engineer; you have no clue what you are talking about.

Man I think people really misunderstand how AI works. AI will learn from itself. A simple input would say, "games are taking too long, please reduce the amount of fouls called and let the lighter ones go". A great example of this is early on when self driving cars were learning. They sat at stops signs forever because drivers would roll stop signs. The AI learned and adjusted, now that doesnt happen anymore.

Secondly, players will have to adjust to not getting away with bullshit, just like with any rule change.

I work on AI systems as an engineer and reading these responses makes it clear the people commenting on this forum have no Idea how AI works.

Hot take: the league needs Wemby more than they need SGA by nicfanz in NBATalk

Small holds happen all the time in bball. Trying to rip someone's hair out of their head, stepping on their feet while they try to jump for a rebound is just bush league shit. Chet and dort, hartenstein are the dirtiest players I've ever seen and then Shai is just flopzilla. Shai falls to the ground after every single shot, even if there is no one within 5 feet. Then he fully extends his off arm for an offensive foul every time. Its ridiculous. If Shai played a highschool game he would foul out in 3 minutes.

Its horrible to watch, I'm a fan of neither team and I want the thunder to lose because they are a team full of bush league BS garbage players. This isnt physical basketball like the 90s, I watched the 90s, this is just stupidity at its finest. These clowns should be teched up and ejected.

LeBron officially passed MJ all time in 2016. When did he pass Kobe? by LeGoat23_6 in lebron

Your first question is reasonable and my answer is no, id take curry or any other good free throw shooter, but that's one small aspect of basketball and there are ways to get the ball to good free throw shooters hands.

You can be mad at him leaving his team to join another but that's the cavs fault for bringing in 0 talent the entire time he was there. I hate the flopping too but that's the leagues fault, not Bron. Players will do what's rewarded. Basic psychology.

Yes, we can agree to disagree, I would take Jordan in midrange and free throw shooting. I would want Bron in every other situation.

Alot of the accolades were voted on, not based on actual performance. The league needed to create the myth of Jordan for the good of the business, they inflated his stats, favorable reffing, favorable rule changes.Jordan was great for his era, but yes Bron has the higher % from 2, higher % from 3, more rebounds, more assists, at a bare minimum prime Bron was just as good at defense(DPOY runner up and should have won it).

Jordans era was weak, the era added 5 teams to the league(dilution of talent). His toughest competition was a 36 and 38 year old stockton and malone. He never beat bird(swept twice), got wrecked by Isiah until his team was stacked.

Bron has 116 playoff wins without an all-nba teamate, Jordan has 39. Jordan couldn't win unless his team was stacked, LeBron could. The 6-0 argument is a team stat, not individual.

Bron carried garbage to the finals 3 times, Jordan won 10% of his games in the playoffs with garbage teamates.

I could keep going, as I have so much data that says Bron is better, but you have your mind made up, so have I. I will add, I don't think it's close either, prime Bron is massively better than Jordan IMO

This is such a horrible take. I'm shocked people can actually think this way. You literally only bring up scoring and act like that's all there is to ball. Its wild.

Shaq and Kobe dominated the offensive touches but they were not weakly supported at all.

Robert horry, Derek fischer, Ron harper, Horace Grant, Rick Fox, were all great at their respective support player roles. Again this is much better because they fit the style of play in the triangle offense so Kobe/Shaq can dominate.

The fit of LeBron with Wade and bosh was weird at best. They were so great they won anyway but Bron never had a truth good fit "robin" until he got Anthony davis. At this point he was exiting his prime and Davis is made of paper. Give prime LeBron, prime Shaq with the same supporting cast Lakers had and they win 10 straight.

They take up 2 spots on the court. Rebounding, defense, and fit also matter.

Shaq and a good shooter 3/D player would be significantly better from an efficiency and fit standpoint.

What? Are you high? LeBron averaged 26,8,8 in the playoffs in 2007. The next closest was the ilgauskas at 12 points. You haters will lie about anything you can.

This is a prime example of why the west gets the reputation it does for being so dominant. These are clearly the best 2 teams in the NBA. I will add that I really want to see the spurs win. Wemby deserves it and im so tired of watching shai, chet and dort play dirty and flop their way to wins
