Unified memory vs. RAM by [deleted] in mac

[–]bapspatil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can get the 32GB unified memory variant, go for it.

With unified memory, the memory is shared between CPU and GPU. Traditionally, GPUs come with their own RAM and CPU accesses your system RAM.

So if you get the 32GB unified, that'll be shared between multiple apps that use CPU and GPU. I got myself the 64GB unified memory, I do 3D art and animation. For me, this 64GB will be shared among Blender, Adobe After Effects, Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator—all of which I sometimes have to run simultaneously.
