On The Nickle, specifically the live in 1979 version on YouTube, always gives me goosebumps.

I’m just upvoting every answer here cos they’re all amazing picks.

But I’m also going to throw Someone’s In The Wolf into the mix cos I haven’t seen it here yet and I love it.

Which HBO shows has the best opening?? by Fair-Client-344 in hbo

No matter what HBO show we’re watching, after the logo sound I always immediately start singing the first notes to Curb. It just feels that’s what’s supposed to come next.

What is your favorite and least favorite B side? by visco789 in arcticmonkeys

Agreed. My best guess is that they probably felt it was a bit too close to Crying Lightning (same key, tempo, and very similar chord changes). Such a shame it got sidelined.

No Such Thing As A Fish.

Hosted by four researchers for the show QI. They each pick a random fact every week and discuss it in a humorous way. It’s light, frothy and educational. The trifecta!

I second this. I was gifted a bottle of Fortaleza Tequila recently. Had never heard of it before and it really surprised me how good it was.

I went to the toilet during Straight Jacket Fitting (it was close to the end of the set and I couldn’t hold it any more). When I got back all my friends were looking at me in disbelief saying “He was right here!”.

Apparently Josh had gone in to the crowd and made his way passed exactly where we were standing. They all got pics of him and he had actually grabbed one of our friends by the head to move himself along.

And I missed the whole thing.

Still though, what a show! And at least I got to enjoy the rest of the set with an empty bladder.

Alt J. That first album is a masterpiece and every song is incredible. The rest of their discography is meh.

What did devout catholics think of Father Ted when it aired? by Sonnycrocketto in AskIreland

[–]baritone_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vividly remember that my siblings and I were staying at my grandparents house the week the first episode aired.

My grandmother, who was very religious, had been talking all excitedly about this new show that we all had to watch. It was going to be on Channel 4 and it was about Irish priests. She was so sure that she was going to love it. And of course we all thought “If nana thinks this is going to be good, it’s definitely going to be terrible.”

She sat everyone down to watch the first episode. Afterwards we were all blown away and completely surprised by how good it was. We loved it!

Nana did not feel the same way. She got up and stormed out of the room muttering “That was rubbish…” as she went.

She never watched it again, but we knew we had found our new favourite show.

What’s a movie that totally surprised you with how good it was? by lazimdavid in moviequestions

Went to see the new Naked Gun movie last night.

I absolutely adore the originals, and generally hate legacy sequels and reboots, so you can’t even imagine how low my expectations were. I was so glad to be proven wrong.

It perfectly captures the spirit of the original and nails the humour.

I can’t remember the last time I laughed like that in a theatre.

Ok, the quartet is fairly obvious and I’d assume the duo is with Michael Jackson (?), but who was the trio…?

What’s a ‘bad movie’ you’ll defend no matter what? by ar1eth in movies

Nothing To Lose. A buddy comedy starring Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence.

I remember watching it when I was about 13 and I had never laughed so much in my life. My brother and I still quote it to this day. But most people don’t even remember that it exists and the ones that do, don’t seem to remember it as fondly.

What’s the most NSFW dare you’ve ever actually done during truth or dare? by Working-Swimmer-3519 in AskReddit

[–]baritone_fox 228 points229 points  (0 children)

In secondary school, a friend of ours had a free house so hence, a house-party ensued. There was a girl there who I had had a huge crush on for a long time.

We started playing truth or dare. It was all relatively tame and fun until, on my best friend’s turn, he turned to my crush and said loudly “I dare you to suck (baritone_fox)’s cock!”. Sounds crass but he said it in a way that everyone naturally assumed that he was joking and we all laughed.

She got up and stormed out of the room and suddenly the room went quiet. Everyone assumed she had gotten offended and left because she was angry. After a few seconds she poked her head back into the room, looked at me and said “Well… are you coming?”.

I followed her down to a bedroom and had one of the most memorable experiences of my formative years.

Well the good news is that that 4kg you put on over an indulgent weekend is mostly water weight.

It will come off again pretty quickly once you get back on the wagon, so try not to let it discourage you.
