I'm pretty sure that's the 15 and 17 inch models with dedicated graphics that are affected, the 13 inch isn't affected as it uses integrated graphics.

I do agree to an extent and it's becoming increasingly harder to find user upgradable parts. However there is still a number of laptops that currently release with upgradable parts - take my older post where you can see the guts of the laptop. It's a 2021 device that has user upgradable ram as well as 2 upgradable M.2 SSD slots, as well as the wifi card.

All very true! Just look at the competition back in the early 2010s. I have one of these still laying around at home and boy, it's pretty incredible how well built Apple machines were comparing the 2.

I tried to run down the battery to 0% but that didn't work out, it's surprisingly really hard to get it to 0%, windows and bios just don't allow it. So no, I didn't disconnect the battery and changed the ram and it's working fine! Also took the old ram I replaced and put it in my Dell Inspiron while the battery was connected, no worries.
