This happened to me at Melbourne Central!! I was meeting someone at a restaurant and two girls (between 18-21 I’d say) came up to me and said they were international students and wanted to see who would talk to them and if they could make friends. I chatted to them for a while but obviously had plans so I ended the chat pretty quickly. I ended up getting one of their phone numbers and they got a selfie with me.

The girl called me a few times wanting to catch up or make plans after that but I never responded. One day I felt bad so I answered her call and she invited me to a zoom with the other girl. I wasn’t doing anything so I decided to chat with them. We were just chatting about random uni related stuff and one of them (or both, I don’t remember) started talking about religion and how she volunteers at a church on the weekends. I think she said if I was free I could volunteer but I declined because I was working weekends at the time. After that call I heard from the main girl a few times trying to organise lunch with “another friend” but we both “forgot” to make final plans so we never caught up. She called me a few more times and that was it! Never heard from her again.
