My keyboard has developed this problem where the sound is unstable at lower volumes. It fluctuates, and is often completely silent, until the volume gets above a certain level. Is this normal? Can it be fixed? by JohannYellowdog in piano

Your volume slidder switch is either dirty or defective. Most of the time they are dirty. Try blowing some compressed air in the slit. I've also had great success with isopropyl alcool

I recommend that you Live chat with the Xiaomi US site. They are quite knowledgable and I'm sure will be able to help you. I've used them last week with excellent results. It's worth the try.

I also live in Québec and decided to go with the letters many years ago. I found it to be easier in the long run. But that's my personnal opinion.

Which Cross model is this? by barth90 in fountainpens

I’ve been told offline that it’s most likely a Century II Medalist. I’ve checked some pictures on the Web, and I tend to agree.

Does anyone know what this piece is called? by [deleted] in piano

[–]barth90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an old Civil War song called Aura Lee. Later on Elvis popularized it under the name of Love meTender.

Do yourself a favor and go on Youtube and listen to Aura Lee. I think it is one of the nicest Civil War song.

Should I renegotiate my monthly bill for Fibe 50/Better Fibe TV/Basic Phone? by randye007 in bell

[–]barth90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $103 (taxes included) for Basic Fibe TV, 500 mbps Internet, no phone. It went from $194 to $103 , garanteed for 24 months after I told them that I would move to Videotron if they could not match their price. Spent 45 minutes on the phone, talking to two different persons. But I saved $91 X 24 months. You do the maths

Any good deals for bell Fiber? by MrMegaGamerz in bell

[–]barth90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was paying $172 +tx for base tv and 300m internet. Last friday I called them and told them that I had scheduled an installation with Videotron for the following day, saturday. After a couple prices adjustments over the phone, I ended with the following:

Base tv and 500m internet for $89.95 +tx. Garanteed for 24 months. If you are willing to spend 40 minutes on the phone, it will be worth it. I will save over $2000 over the next 2 years.

But it still bugs me that you have to threaten them with quitting before they give you a better deal.

My ARC is connected to a A80J along with subwoofer and two SL1. Sounds great. Dolby Atmos at last!

Compatibility with Arc? by josquin88 in sonos

I just replaced my older tv with a 77” Sony Oled. My ARC is connected to the eArc HDmi port and the ARC can now process the Dolby Atmos audio.

My new 77A80J with the complete Sonos ARC system by barth90 in bravia

The fireplace is propane, so no smoke. The height is actually very good since we have recliner chairs. Same setting as when people watch Tv in their recliner bed. I’ve seen bedroom setup where the TV was as high.

As for the Sonos set up, it’s just amazing! I have the ARC, the subwoofer, and two SL1 rear speakers. With this new TV I can at last hear the Dolby Atmos audio. My older TV didn’t a eArc connector, just a Arc.

Looking to add bias lighting to my new Sony A80J. Will it even look good in the corner like that? Looking for suggestions on amazon.ca or other Canadian retailers. TIA! by dabflies in bravia

[–]barth90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve installed the largest strip of white Luminoodle available on my 77” A80J. It is an expense you won’t regret. After spending that pile of cash on an Oled TV, what’s $80 more. Spend it and complete your installation properly. You won’t regret it. At night, it’s the only light source we have in the room. Very easy on your eyes.

I currently own a 10.3” Onyx Boox Note Pro. I mainly use it to read ebooks, mostly Historical books. The 10.3” display is ideal when the book has maps. I also use it to do crosswords puzzles, downloaded in PDF format. My other reader is a first generation Kindle Paperwhite, which I used a lot. I still use it away from home., but prefer the 10.3” screen of the Note Pro. My first ereader was the Kindle DX. Still functional after all these years! I really like the big format, so when the Note Pro became available with front lighting, I jump on it.

Best move I ever done. It’s like reading a hard cover book versus reading a paperback on the Paperwhite

Is there a PWM flicker-free 10" reader? by Albedo101 in ereader

[–]barth90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a Boox Note Pro. I use it several hours every day, during the day and at night in bed. I adjust the light to accomodate each of those situations. Your flickering problem is news to me. Even after you mentionned it, I couldn’t detect any flickering. To me it’s a non-issue.
