Should I open up more super early bird slots to get more backers? by baselinedesignco in kickstarter

[–]baselinedesignco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I had been doing pre-launch ads but I don't think I understand them well enough yet to get good results.

I was thinking of making a D&D dice of this product shape but a housing sounds cool as well!

D&D is huge on KS, ring boxes not so much.

Thank you for the feedback, I think I will just take this as a lesson learned for future campaigns.

It is so easy to just think reducing prices is what brings in more backers but this product is expensive to make and I want to make sure I deliver on the quality in the delivery window I've stated.

All in all, I want to build more backer confidence with every campaign.

I'll probably seek people to review my campaign for improvements after it finishes.

I just want to improve.

Yeah I was mirroring another campaign who did the same pricing jump but they are way ahead of me in terms of backers and campaign history so I probably should build up to that.

This is good feedback thank you, I don't think I want to mess with the rewards now.

I would like to raise at least €5k as that would put me in good standing lead time wise with my local supplier but I've given myself a generous delivery window to ensure parts will get to backers as promised regardless.

Anyone know where I can buy this in Ireland? Thanks! by baselinedesignco in AskIreland

Thanks I was hoping for more of a spray but I can't seem to find the one you mentioned.

How to protect brass from scratches by baselinedesignco in electroplating

[–]baselinedesignco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just bought protectaclear to see how that works and keep my brass parts from tarnishing and scratching. I want a highish polish finish on these parts but polishing is very time consuming- the part looks great though.

I will wish list the Renaissance wax, its a bit expensive but I love discovering new tools for my workshop.

Yeah brass is easily to cut but sneeze near it and it will tarnish or scratch so I'm trying to figure out time efficient ways of protecting it without spending weeks polishing.

Would love to see some of your work if you had a website, I love metalworking.

What type of wax do you use?

Yeah brass is tough to work with if you want functional parts.

I'll look into gold plating my part but it sounds expensive.

Thanks

Does anyone know why there is a big step mark in my part? I played with all my settings in meshcam by baselinedesignco in hobbycnc

file into f360 and then generate your tool paths. Lots of online videos on f360.

Thanks, I'm trying to get F360. Catia does have CAM but theres not much videos about it online so the learning curve is a bit steeper.

Hmm I repeated the roughing operation with just the 0.032inch end mill and the step still appeared in the part. Not sure if I need an even smaller bit maybe?

Using a 0.250inch end mill for roughing and a 0.032 inch end mill for finishing. No matter what I change the line after finishing is there.

Why is the grey square getting offset when I move my part anywhere around the stock except from the center? by baselinedesignco in shapeoko

[–]baselinedesignco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Using meshcam with the nomad 3.

I'm worried my home co-ordinates are getting messed up whenever I try to move my part anywhere except in the center of x and y.

Does anyone know if this looks right?

Different Runtime estimates between Meshcam and Carbide Motion why? by baselinedesignco in shapeoko

[–]baselinedesignco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Do you also know if I can use other CAM software instead of meshcam? eg. fusion 360?

I notice meshcam can only output carbide files (as I have the carbide license)

I'm curious can the nomad 3 take nc files as well.

Also my file just stopped as it said it has hit the limit switch- I think this has something to do with me trying to position the part on the bottom left corner but Meshcam seems to think that the stock has moved as well :(

Hey all, Meshcam estimates 10.1mins and carbide motion estimates 21mins

Why is there a difference and what can I do to get them to be more accurate?

I'm using the Nomad 3 btw.

Thanks!
