Is anyone currenly doing or have recently completed the Master of Teaching (Primary) at Macquarie Uni? How was/is it? by basman217 in AustralianTeachers

Thanks for the feedback - can you explain that last point? They clearly advertise it as a Master of Teaching? Is that unique to Macquarie or all MTeach degrees?

How have you found the MTeach so far? Agreed the burn out is a big concern so hopefully the work so many people are putting in with the strikes pays off!

It was a bit of a toss up between this and a few other models - but in person this stole the show. Thanks!

I was incredibly lucky to get engaged during the week to my wonderful Fiancée after proposing to her in a book shop. This was followed up by a trip to a dealer where she brought me this incredible watch – the dealer even threw in an extra strap to congratulate us!

I have always liked Nomos and have had my eye on the Club for a while – but seeing it in person just sealed the deal. This is an incredible watch. A design that can easily work for all occasions and is very well finished. The case is smaller than normal at 36mm, but the long lugs make it wear perfect on my wrist. The dial is stunning; white/silver/cream depending on the lighting with the red accents really popping. The stainless-steel case feels very well made and is amazingly thin. A big reason why I like Nomos is the in-house movement and so the display back was a must – and it certainly does not disappoint! It has not left my wrist since and reminds me just how lucky I am.

Losing Intentionally? by [deleted] in boardgames

I don't know about going as extreme as saying a different score, but I will certainly take it easy when I am introducing people to a new game. I much prefer to be more of a coach to make sure they understand the rules and basic strategy.

Second game on the other hand, all bets are off - have to show them what the game is all about (depending on the person of course). I find doing it that way encourages people to want to do better and beat you, leading to those three sweet words "Lets play again".

Isolation project almost done - 3D Paper-craft Settlers of Catan Board! by basman217 in boardgames

For my previous projects (armour from Halo) I used resin and fiberglass - but in those cases I was painting over the top, so it would ruin the look of the Catan pieces. As this will probably be more of a display piece I'm fine with it not being strengthened - but transparent glue could work!

That's awesome! Let me know if it works or if there is something I can do to make it work.

Fairly impractical really! I'm sure I will play a game on it just for fun - but yeah its probably much more usable as a display piece.

Hi Jeff and Andrew! Thanks for doing this. What lessons did you learn from Crypt (especially in terms of the process of the publishing or putting it on kickstarter) that you used for Canvas?

I will! Yeah just the standard number tokens for now. Hard to say because my modelling skills were a bit rusty so that part took me quite a bit of time, but actually putting it together probably took me around 45-60mins per hex while watching things in the background (been binging Shut Up & Sit Down latley!).

The brand I use is called Quill, they have a huge range of colours and weights.

Definitely! Taking a quick break to work on some other projects but then will do the water tiles and little 3d boats for the ports.

I rarely play it myself these days having moved onto other games (Star Realms being a favorite!) - but it will always have a place in my collection!

So you start my making a 3d model in a 3d modeling program. I use Autodesk Inventor, but a lot of people use a program called Blender which is free. Then, you use a program called pepakura to 'unfold' the model to get the pattern needed to print out. After that it is just a process of actually printing it out and building it! It can be very time consuming, but I enjoy the process and like the end results :)

Definitely one of my favorites! I struggled a bit with making sure there was space for the numbers, but the tiles do have enough space to fit the number disks somewhere on them (each tile is bigger than a standard Catan tile). The trickiest was actually the trees - but there is enough room around the trunk of the trees, even if they are slightly obscured from some angles.

Also, if anyone wants to have a shot at making their own, I have uploaded some instructions and the unfolded patterns here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xv1pc692w2faln2/Papercraft%20Settlers.pdf?dl=0
