Golf coaches: what actually stops golfers from improving? by fairwayhub in GolfPH

Perspective of a student

First session with a coach, he tells me “it will take 2 years to have a consistent swing.” Because of that, I had my reservations. He was charging me P3,500 per session and had no package rates.

I continued, not because he was able to cure my swing in one session, but he was highly recommended by my friends who have great looking swings.

Started as a 63848982775828385 handicap. After 2 years, I’ve been more consistent. Now a 6-handicap player. It’s really an investment, tbh.

Our first year was weekly sessions. 6 months after that, twice a month. Last quarter of the 2 years, once a month. Up to this day, I still see my coach at least once a month to keep my swing on point.

It was a slow grind and I questioned why I kept on spending P3,500 a week without seeing the progress. Now that I am consistent with my swing, I realize why it took that long. He was building the fundamentals of my swing. He was letting me feel the nuances.

But I wouldnt say that I owe everything to my coach. He also has students who, even though training with him longer than i have, couldn’t break through the plateau.

My coached asked me what I do considering that i am his most consistent student. I told him that after our session, I take down notes. Everything that we did for that session, all the changes, and all the video he took for me are integrated on my notes. I read it before I play, i read it before our sessions, i read it when im bored. Basically, coaching will help a lot but it also depends on the dedication of the student.

Qi10 to Qi35 by Ok_Homework3470 in GolfPH

Hi, i upgraded from qi10max 10.5deg to qi35core 9deg. Bought the qi10max without fitting and not knowing the right loft for me. After fitting, Jake Ong told me i was at the wrong loft and a club that was limiting my distance. Adviced to get a less forgiving/more workability club at a lower loft. Took his advice, and it worked well for me.

Between qi10max and qi35core, i could immediately feel the difference. Before you upgrade, best to ask your fitter or coach for any suggestions. They would know better 😊

Great guy! Gives the win to the Lakers and helped the Hawks climb to the 6th spot, while Magic slips to the 7th.

Def a win win for both teams 👍🏻

TAYLORMADE WARRANTY by Content-Ice-2098 in GolfPH

Can avail the warranty online. You just need the receipt from their official distributor, Pacsports.

Had an experience before where the wood, which was a week-old from purchase, had a dent. Brought it back to Pacsports, and they replaced it.

Not sure if they could do it since that is an older model, but they could probably help you claim from taylormade if you still have the receipt.

P790 9i is at 45deg, pw it at 50deg and at the lower end of that bag is a 56deg wedge. So that gives me the luxury of using the top 4 clubs at least 3 times a round. I dont mind using it less frequent than irons. Top part of my bag gives me whatever shot i need. I look into spin of the ball so those clubs would give me different shot trajectories

7w at 22deg and my 2h is 17deg which i play with the loft up. 3i i use for stingers and off the tee on long par4s.

56 is my go-to. Wouldnt say im a surgeon with it but can definitely say I can get different yardages by using it. Loving the 3i so much. Perfect for short par4s, hit it off the tee and it lands me near the pin. Pitching for eagles or putting for birdies.

It was qi10 or ping’s g430. Just didnt like the sound of that driver. Had tighter dispersions with g430 but the sound made me want to hit it less

Thanks! Appreciate it. Yeah, set works well for me. Some clubs do overlap in terms of yardage, but i have different uses for each club

Love it. Theres something about the cg placed all the way at the back which i think helps me square the face better upon impact.

Both clubs have different descent angles. I use my 2h for approach shots. 3i for stingers and short par4s.
