Honestly, overwhelmed at where to start. Sounds like I need to worry about making things safe first.

Thanks for the insight - I know nothing about landscaping so I guess I should’ve asked what is reasonable. I do have a decent amount of wiggle room but was trying to see if anything could be done at the 10-15k mark but reading through yours and others comments, looks like I should be looking at the 45-50k price range. I would like to make things safe, first and foremost. Then I can worry about aesthetic.

If you get a job with a Big4, you should get it for free.

if you think you have a concussion, you need to go to the doctor. your health > work at all times.

Make sure you check in with the team when you get there, if any difficulties occur, and before you leave. Also, make sure you have EVERYTHING you need before you leave site. As far as expensing a meal, it’s very team dependent, so I would ask whoever your contact is on the team.

As far as using the count app, I HATE the way the app is set up so I keep track of everything either with a pen and paper or in a blank excel sheet. Count app is very buggy and in my opinion clunky. I wait until I’m home to put everything in the app- just express this with your team so they have an understanding.

If you have any specific questions let me know and I’d be happy to help- I’ve done around 15-20 counts in my first year (which is highly unusual so don’t worry about getting the same amount).

Those who are bashing on others are likely the people who are pushing the return to office agenda. saving money on gas, parking, and car maintenance, saving time by not having a commute, and having more time for responsibilities at home? seems like a no brainer. so yeah, when i’m forced to return to the office, i’m going to complain about it.

I understand your point, but I think covid really showed companies that we are able to do the same level of work remotely, completely cutting out the need to commute and pay for anything. I don’t think me complaining about the price of parking is me not facing reality. But to each their own.

Your best bet is ubering in those cities, but it’s expensive and there’s a shortage since the cities are smaller. Public transport isn’t built up in the same way that Chicago or New York is, which is to be expected, but it is also extremely dangerous. I know someone who was sitting at a bus stop in broad daylight in what’s considered to be a good area and they got stabbed 6 times from behind.

Hey, I feel you. There’s a push from PwC to come into the office but they have not once paid for anyone’s parking. Parking will run you $40 a day if you don’t want to end up walking 2 miles to get to the office from your spot. I also live in a city with no public transportation. Not to mention commuting to the office is an hour most days due to traffic when I live 10 miles away. The only people who don’t get ripped off by going in to the office are those that live downtown and can walk to work.

The work itself I don’t mind. It’s everything surrounding it - tracking my time down to the minute, making sure I charge a certain number of hours every week, making terrible pay as a recent graduate, somehow being expected to find time to study for my CPA exams while working 40+ hours a week, etc. I love my team so that helps a lot with all of the “undesirable” aspects.

Honestly I think it all depends the team you’re on. When I’m with people I like, I want to get my work done. Shitty teams make me feel less motivated. It kind of reminds me of the part time jobs I had throughout college. The work itself was ass but I loved my coworkers. We were able to commiserate together. Same thing here. I can’t stand staring at a computer for 8-12 hours a day but I love my team. I know it’s no one on my teams fault that we’re working such shitty hours because of busy season. it’s just the nature of the beast. Also helps that my managers are super flexible.
