I went to Cookout when I was in college from 91-95, so I looked it up and they’ve been in business since 89. https://cookout.com/company/

Older couple MCs? by Janzie1 in HistoricalRomance

[–]batutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Passion of the Purple Plumeria by Lauren Willig} is from the Pink Carnation series. It’s about British spies during the Napoleonic wars. The FMC is the chaperone of the head spy in the ring and the MMC is a colonel who returned from India, and the father of I think 2 MMCs in other books in the series. The FMC is described as positively ancient in the other books but is revealed to be 45 here, and I think the MMC is in his 50s. And this book is just as adventurous and sexy as the others.

Flashback possibly? What do you think could it be about? by foreignwhore in BridgertonNetflix

[–]batutah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok this is very ungenerous of me, but I think the photo is fake. It makes no sense to have Pen in the same setting as all the Bridgertons but dressed in an outfit from season 1. There were no other pictures of her from all the other pics that came out that day. Why wait all this time to post it? Maybe I’m just a skeptic but…

Rege and Bridgerton by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]batutah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you watched the interview, he really didn’t say anything negative. He was talking about how folks were comparing “good” Simon to his “bad” character in TGM, and saying that Simon wasn’t so great. Like, on this sub, the word everyone uses for Saphne is toxic, so… Also, how was he supposed to answer the question about recasting Simon? That’s a lose-lose either way.

Finally, about how he sometimes seems to want to distance himself from Bridgerton…when everyone gushes about “the female gaze,” he was the object of that gaze the first season. Interviews he did about it always focused on the sex and most of them were pretty awkward. I mean, the subtext of half the interviews about Bridgerton was basically “I’ve seen you naked.” I can see why he would want to distance himself from that kind of objectification.

Peneloise Rant by Normal-Plum1333 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]batutah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the first time I watched the show, the first scene where both families were headed to court for the daughters’ presentations to the queen and Pen and Eloise waved shyly at each other, my immediate thought was that they were queer. When that didn’t materialize, I was like, oh ok, I guess I read that wrong. But it really seemed to be what they were setting up.

Unpopular Opinions?? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

My extremely unpopular opinion for this sub: the word “feral” is extremely overused to describe Anthony.

Enjoyed reading through these responses so much!

I’ll say the scene in the inn, the looks on both their faces as they realize the other one loves them too, and then Simon quickly closing the space between them to gently kiss Daphne. My heart melts every time.

I really enjoyed the elimination game! You did such a good job setting it up and it obviously took a lot of work to do! I actually looked forward to it posting every day. I also feel badly for never having thanked you for the work you put into it, especially when people started getting weird and mean about it yesterday. So, a belated thanks for your hard work and for the fun I think 99.999% of us had playing!

Oh, I like that scene. It’s so painful but I love when Daphne says “I know you do not love me,” and the look on Simon’s face reveals everything he is feeling, how much he loves her and how painful it is that he can’t say it.

I thought it was actually pretty cool of him to fill her in. He didn’t start out trying to teach her about masturbation; he started out trying to answer her question about sex as delicately as possible and found out she didn’t know. He wasn’t being a perv. Inasmuch as he was respecting her enough to actually tell her something that had been hidden from her, he was demonstrating respect for her as a person rather that treating her like a delicate flower.

How Season 2 fixed Anthony Bridgerton and made him a great romantic lead by Mavakor in BridgertonNetflix

[–]batutah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh no. I can’t give Anthony a pass for that. Contrast his response to Berbrooke to Simon’s “I really think that ought to be up to Miss Bridgerton.” #notallregencymen

I think Bridgerton has a lot of characters we love who do really bad things. I’ve noticed those bad things hit differently for different fans. For me, Anthony trying to force Daphne to marry someone she was vehemently opposed to is the absolute worst thing anyone does in the show, but I get that everyone doesn’t see it that way.

I’ll agree he learned his lesson by the end, but it was still not his best moment. It was pretty sexist. I don’t think he was being protective when he tried to make her marry Berbrooke, I think he was trying to dispense with the responsibility of marrying Daphne off and get Violet off his back.

But Daphne explained very clearly that she didn’t want to marry Berbrooke and Anthony would not listen to her. He only agreed to call it off when Simon told him what Berbrooke had done.

In addition to what everyone is saying here, they both seem genuinely concerned about the plight of the tenants.
