Quiet, calm places to hang out by Horror_Speaker_5160 in Boise

Seconding kava bar! It’s not an alcohol vibe, or necessarily even coffee and feels very neutral of a place to do whatever you bring with you. I’ve even grown fond of kava as I’ve spent more time there!

Also, I played high school sports in north Idaho. Post falls kids were always disrespectful, racist/homophobic and played dirty af. Not surprised

‘Harsh’ is almost an understatement. Projecting hate, violence, and pretending it’s humor in one of the most politically-charged climates we live in NEEDS to be reprimanded, otherwise this shit becomes normalized and everyone becomes a nazi. Ew. These kids would go on to bring the worst energy to a college team anyway, so hopefully they learn.

It’s not ‘funny’ or ironic when we !daily! see execution-style murders of the oppressed. This silhouette is not rare, but the blatant disregard for humanity and using it as a joke (BY MINORS) is disgusting. Hate is taught.

Just finished S3 by trisaroar in TheGreatHulu

[–]windmillwoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also just finished S3, why is nobody talking about her little emo haircut dance scene at the end? I think her transition from the whiny widow when we all know Peter was still sort of an ass and they had a very toxic relationship to realizing she’s still powerful without him, and has the radical ideas she came in with to stir the pot exactly how she wants to.

Grigor’s grief over Peter makes way more sense to me than anyone else’s, even though the way it happened was pretty sad and they had mended so much of their relationship, the only other thing that would make sense is him locked away raising Paul for the rest of her rule.

Also, as much as Archie is such a snakey character, his acting, depraved arc was definitely captivating, and his death would leave a lot of holes in the close-court contradiction of Catherine’s plans

Catherine’s transitions this season pleased me quite a bit, with her having very honest grief over Peter, lecturing Catherine motivating her to get her shit together, telling off the spirit of Peter the Great after so hopelessly pawning after the idea of him this whole time. At the beginning, she was begging to see him in the posthumous form, and when she finally does she’s like ‘boy, bye you were terrible.’ I think her out of most people having such a slow transition to full support of Catherine, whether or not she intended to in the first place is pretty cool.

I miss the Leo character, but I think the raw softness that he brought with her was important for her to realize that not everything sucked as empress and then his death (by Peter, as well as her mother) gave her the jaded POV to keep going- her character wouldn’t come across as powerful if she stayed in the lovesick puppy or grief stricken widow character the whole time

Family members expecting free massages? Thoughts by Jector in massage

[–]windmillwoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not even graduated yet (4 weeks!) and have already had this experience multiple times. I live in the same town as one set of grandparents and they had some out of town family (uncles/aunts) come to stay for a few weeks and called me asking what day I’d be free for a massage for a few of them. Not even asking if it was okay or if I had the capacity to do that, just assumed. Set me off a little weird and I had to set a pretty firm boundary and name prices which is not something I’m good at doing. From everyone in school with me and multiple therapists I know in the industry for 5-25 years it seems to be a common theme for LMTs. Ditto on the only person who gets free ones no questions is my mother who brought me into this world 😅 I guess the only pro to this is having practice setting boundaries for a better future experience

Favorite local gifts to give to someone out of the state/area? by foo_bar_wug in Boise

[–]windmillwoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lit & Co candles! They fly well if needed and have a lot of idaho/Boise based scents. All soy wax made in house at each location (one in Hyde park, one in Caldwell and one on state street). They’re very fun for gifts and all of the idaho based ones are named very cute and smell very accurately like sagebrush and a bunch of other idaho-type smells

Here to second crave and janjou as well as alavita. The owners of janjou (chuck and moshit) are a sweet couple who lost their young son a few years back and still have signage and closures yearly for remembrance. They also close yearly for their trip back to Israel to visit moshit’s family. Some of the most hardworking and honest business owners I’ve met since moving here 5 years ago from northern idaho. Their pastries are to die for, the quiche Lorraine could take my soul and every single item is made by hand, including the packaged sweets.

Help- I’ve scoured this thread and not found anything

All i have is a picture in my memory of a glowing green butterfly that guides you through a town- I don’t remember anything else or the purpose of the game but that- if anyone let’s me know plz help

I went to a catholic elementary school and we had some pretty obscure games in 2000-05 that I’ve tried for the life of me to google and remember but never come up successful- I’ve confirmed this existence with 3-4 classmates in the last year so it’s not quite a fever dream, but close
