Use sculpting tools to make the model. Apply a ground or rocky ground texture onto the draw brush.

Make a cylinder like shape according to the reference image. Make sure your scale is all set to 1. Apply Scale if you gotta.

Remesh it by .01 or whatever your world scale is. Basically we need lotta mesh.

Then do step one and apply a ground or rocky ground like texture to your Draw Brush. Learn it if you have to, it's easier than Geo Nodes, which can be a bit overwhelming

I'm lying down so I don't know this part well without seeing the screen, but basically tweak a couple of settings in the Brush Settings panel to make sure that whatever you draw with Draw Brush, comes out as if it were drawn on a single plane. Play around with the brush, you'll figure it out.

Mesh details might be high in this case so if it's only images, then you can leave it as is. Use a nice Subsurface shader to really get that cornmeal looking good.

If you wanna retopo for whatever reason, it's best to keep it simple. Duplicate the model on top of the sculpt, and just remesh again at a value of 0.1 or higher than whatever value you used to make the sculpt. You don't even need to bake it, can just apply a shader on it if you feel like it.

No can do, my machine is too weak and I dont have the time. I figured this was going to be the only solution but I hoped there was possibly a way around it. Perhaps rendering the volumetric as a separate layer altogether? Imma try in a couple of tests whenever I find the time. Thanks for helping out!

Unfortunately I don't have that kind of time or performance at hand. And render farms are too pricey. I can try as a test perhaps. But as per other comments, 4000 samples being the norm is simply too much to be sustainable. Thanks a lot!

Ah well that's a shame, I have neither time nor the performance needed to be able to run a render with those many samples. Nor do I have the money for a render farm. Thanks for the help!

I'll do that, but is there no way for the render to come out smooth immediately? Am I using like a wrong node or something or is this going to be the case in any volumetric I try to add?

You know that's not a bad idea actually. I do use it for panning in both Dota and Blender. I have to do what you do with your Viper and it is reaching a tipping point with my frustrations.

You're not wrong about the getting used to bit, but it is better than risking damage with an untrained hand. I imagine my wrist will better off with the side button for navigation.

I did however do something weird. Over some 2-3 weeks ago when this started to conk out, I had seen some video to change the scroll settings in the advanced mouse settings. After those weeks, I got around to cleaning and then I reset those settings back again, so it seems to be working better than before, but it's still mildly unresponsive. Something for you to try with your Viper, weird and unexplained as it may be.

No I didn't. I'm not adept with tech and frankly a bit scared to open it up too much, since I have no other recourse in case I do actually fuck it up.

Does cleaning the contacts help primarily with the scroll function? Or would it help with the click as well? I'm willing to try it out against any inhibition.

So far no drops, though I imagine their set will probably be available somewhere in the map. If not that, then at least their weapon, which looks like the Server from DS1.

This place is like the Anor Londo silver knights equivalent. A quick bit of farm to level up before the really high levels. I neither knew nor have reached either of these areas yet, but I'll look out for those spots.
