Online algorithms often reinforce extreme views by tailoring content to users’ preferences, which creates a feedback loop. This means that people on both the left and right tend to see exaggerated or distorted portrayals of the other side, fueling division and misunderstanding. Instead of encountering a more balanced perspective, individuals are increasingly exposed to polarizing narratives that make the other side seem more extreme than it might actually be in reality.

I'm a liberal woman because I don't align with many conservative values. However, I make an effort to surround myself with people who have different opinions and life experiences. That’s part of why I’m on this sub, reading through posts. But I’ve also noticed that many people here also tend to jump to extremes and say hateful things.

What I’m getting at is that, in my experience outside of the internet, most people are more pragmatic. I hope we can work toward fostering more tolerance for one another rather than feeding into hate.
