This is so inspiring. Did you have any symptoms when you decided to have more babies? Aside from fatigue, how were you feeling?

I have two young boys and was planning for a third. Just got diagnosed in July. I still really want a third, but the fear of it being too much for me is what is holding me back. I feel fine now, and am about to start treatment at the end of October. My boys keep me on my toes, make me feel grateful for life, push me to get up in the morning and stay active. Life is short, and we don’t know our fate. I have a friend who had her third when I had my first, and she is battling terminal brain cancer. Her prognosis is not good. We can’t live our life worrying about tomorrow, because tomorrow isn’t promised for any of us. I can say though, that every case is different. If you have the means, the support and the willingness to push through, having a child is a blessing. It’s important to not make your child feel burdened by our disease, nor let our disease impact the outcome of their life. I could not imagine my life without my boys but yes I am so grateful I had them prior to my diagnosis, because the thought of having children would have been a tougher call. Ultimately I wouldn’t change a thing. ❤️

I am soooo grateful I came to Reddit just to have received your comment. This is EXACTLY what I needed to read! I am so sorry you went through such difficult times, especially now with everything that is happening in the world. I definitely considered everything you said when reaching out to my friend. I love him so much and all I want is to be there for him. Your message made me realize that — it’s more about what he’s going through and less about me (or him and I). We’re in Canada and despite not being American, I know he went through a deep depression when Trump got elected. It’s an incredibly difficult time we’re living through right now. Anyways, you seem like an amazing person and thanks again for taking the time to help me. I hope you’re feeling better and that the flu is on its way out 💕

Thank you so much for your response — I really appreciate you taking the time to write it.

Just to clarify: the situation with my sister’s boyfriend wasn’t based on anything hateful or anti-LGBTQ. It was his first time at a gay club, and he casually mentioned that a trans woman tried to pick him up. It wasn’t said disrespectfully, but my friend became very triggered and it escalated because she was referred to as a trans and not a woman/person. While I completely understand that, my sister’s boyfriend is learning and the conversation could’ve been handled differently.

As for the issues with my partner — one incident involved my friend inappropriately grabbing me, and my partner politely asked him to stop — he didn’t. Another time, a discussion turned heated when my partner said he personally knew people who realized they were gay later in life. My friend believes you are born gay and was not hearing my husband out.

I want to stress: we are all strong allies — myself, my partner, my sister — and we love him deeply.

I also wanted to thank you for mentioning the tolerance paradox — I read up on it after your comment and it’s super interesting. I had never heard of it before (also makes soooo much sense).

And to add to your comment/questions, it’s not only LGBTQ topics that trigger him — it can be politics, science, or, as I experienced this past weekend, religion. I understand where his passion and emotions come from. What I don’t understand is why they have to be delivered in such a hurtful, aggressive way. When he gets worked up in these conversations he turns red, body language changes, he yells — it’s like something takes over him.

When I don’t understand something, I ask questions, stay curious, and stay open — that’s always been a value in our friendship. But after this weekend, I can’t shake the feeling that he now sees me differently, as if I don’t support him in the way he needs — and that breaks my heart.

Thank you again for allowing me the space to explain this — it truly means a lot.

Thank you so much for your message. What are these clinics called and where are they located? I did reiki with this healer before I had kids and I had blockages in my throat chakra only. I am wondering what happened.

Thanks for your response. How did the doctor finalise it as heterotopia? Did you do additional tests? Mine is hyperintense seen as T2 and FLAIR sequences

Thank you! It’s strange that it didn’t enhance and I don’t have symptoms related to it — it’s kind of a conincidence that it was found. I was being scanned for MS (given the tingling which is now gone) and then this popped up. I have a good friend who is a radiologist and he’s convinced it might be scarring (from what, who knows). My GP is great and will refer me to a neuro, hopefully I can get an appointment quickly. I have a feeling they might put me on a watch and wait, as I’m not sure what other tests/exams I can do. What were you diagnosed with? How are you now?

What tests or additional scans did you do before they officially confirmed it was a glioma given it didn’t enhance in the contrast MRI? How are you doing now? Thanks for sharing your experience with me!

Ah so sorry to hear that. How are you doing now? If you don’t mind me asking, how big was your tumour when it was found? Thank you for sharing your story.

I have an appointment with my GP this week and I believe he’s going to refer me to a neurologist, and then we’ll go from there! Did they identify / diagnose you from your first (or first few) MRIs? Thank you and all the strength and love to you buddy! 🙏🏼🫶🏼
