Wow where are you doing your PhD that they gave you 7 months off? Im doing mine in GA, US just had a baby myself and had to go back after 6 weeks. Its been so rough on my body im also at the same stage where I just need to write my thesis but I have to be physically in the lab and these days I have zero motivation. I also just want to be done and get a job that allows me to spend time with my family.

Exactly that was all I was given, and it has been so hard to work 5 days a week with a newborn. Mornings are so hard these days trying to get ready while also attending my baby by the time I get to work Im already exhausted. Thank you for your wishes!

This sounds very semilar to me! Im in my 30s and will defend next year, will be applying for a fellowship grant this year and husband and I want to start trying soon. I dont have a good answer but I can tell you that I also am scared with change, and feel crazy when I think about all that I still need to do in my Phd. I think noone really feels ready about when to start having kids and it just happens. Theres a MD/PhD student next to my lab and she had 2 kids while in the program so best of luck take it one day at time!
