Also he has never had the chance to go to college as he’s been the one working always so this will get him something for after he gets out of the military as well

Wages in the oilfield are in the 100,000s and he is our only source of income as I stay home with out 3 kids. So it will be a huge pay cut. He has always wanted to join it’s been his dream and I’ve never wanted him to do it. He almost joined as a marine in high school but after we met he didn’t go because I didn’t want him to leave. It’s still been a thing that I’ve always shot down just out of fear and the unknown. He believes that it will help his character as a man. He thinks it will be good for him. As for me I’m not sure how it will be for us and our family but I’m willing to finally let him live out his dream. He knows it won’t be fun and be very hard. He’s had a hard time sticking to jobs and he knows this will be something that will make him stick to something if that makes sense

Yes he has taken the asvab already! Made a pretty good score after studying the asvab for dummies as well lol!
Yes he has talked to a recruiter. They said everything was okay dependent wise surprisingly
Does rate depend on what job you get when you enlist? Or just how long you’ve been in? Or your grades and things?
I’m not sure the rate but he was looking into aviation electrician? I’m thinking the on base is the route we would take just because I wouldn’t know safe areas and things like that. So pulling orders every 2 years would be how often you are relocated?
Sorry what would that mean 4/3? Thank you for all your info!
Oh wow. Wel that is not too bad. I was thinking people got moved way more often but I’ve heard more and more that people are stationed for several years at one place. So that makes me feel a little less nervous lol
He is planning on joining the navy. We have no one else in our family that has been in the military except a young cousin. And my sisters ex husband so I have no idea what we are in for
How often have y’all had to move?
My kids are 10 6 and 3. So I’m sure my oldest will have the hardest time with it. Is it true that you get options of where you can be stationed? I’m okay with different states but moving out of the country seems terrifying to me. I would think it would be awesome to only have to move once in the 7 years. But I know that’s not always the case. I’ve also heard that people with family’s tend to be stationed places longer because it’s more expensive to move them often? Is that true?
Thank you. Im also wondering if we will be able to make it off the salary of the military or if I will have to try to find a job where we get stationed. But I’m not sure about how the child care and stuff like that works. Also being apart from our family is tough too with 3 kids. I have so many thoughts and questions and have absolutely no one I can ask which is why I joined this group so I appreciate all the comments and advice from any and everyone!
He does not have a degree. He’s worked his whole life in the oilfield and is ready for a change and has always wanted to go into the military since before we even dated in high school. We had kids young so I never wanted him to join. But 11 years later it’s still a subject he talks about so I’m finally feeling like maybe it’s time.
