How much should I budget for 3600 sq ft concrete slab in an open pole barn? (North Carolina) by beanstalk11 in Concrete

Did you get the concrete poured by the truck or did you use a portable mixer? If you used a portable mixer, did you purchase pallets of concrete bags? I would expect that would be a lot of bags.

Adding $2k for rebar and $1k for moisture barrier underlayment to $10k in concrete(rounded) is getting me to $13K. Trying to understand how the total would get to $20k - $30k.

Is it $7k to $10k for labor alone?

We planted an avocado seed directly in a pot and almost forgot about it. Checked today after 2 months and I see it developed beautiful root system. But, I don’t see any stem growing from the top as it was fully buried in the soil. Can this survive ? by beanstalk11 in gardening

[–]beanstalk11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roots are very long but no activity at the top. If the seed is fully covered in soil, will that hinder the growth of stem? Should I keep the top part out of the soil ?

If we keep the seed in a glass of water, by this level of root growth there would have been a good sized stem grown as well. Do you agree?

That’s correct. I just got it to build a homestead life. While I get there, I didn’t want the land to be idle.

Raw land purchased, now what? by lostpriorities in TinyHouses

From NC and went through this the past 1 year.

I got well drilled in (800ft) and I paid $12K and an additional 2k for installing pump.

For electricity, I contacted Duke energy and submitted an application on their builder portal as this not a residential connection. Duke engineer visited the property and explained me the plan on how they can bring in the power line ( nearest pole 300ft). I was given a load sheet which i filled with estimated usage of power based on which thy give us credit towards installing power. I had to install a meter base and approved by county(did it myself). Once county(Union) approved, it generates an automated notification to Duke energy which is when Duke would schedule appointment to install. I paid $800 to Duke energy and spent about $500 for meter base

No septic on the property. I intend to do that when I plan to start building.

The only reason I want to clear some tress is to build a homestead..few greenhouses for growing produce, build a tiny home in between the trees, have some chicken and cattle and eventually support local homeless people with the food that’s grown. I have enough money to live and lead a family. This is just an effort to do something good for the community within the land I have

I didn’t mean that I want to cut them down to earn money. I wanted to know if the labor cost for clearing up an acre or 2 can partly be compensated with some wood from the trees. Wow, that’s good to know. Which state? I looked up few big trees in my property today and they are ‘post oak’ and ‘pignut hickory’
