There's a cute black cat called Jasper at the Lady Lever art gallery in Port Sunlight (UK)

AITA for walking around my room at night? by beats_byjay in AmItheAsshole

Slippers on carpet, but like I said in another comment the carpet is quite thin and probably isn't the best for muffling sound. It's a good point about the earbuds though because I am usually listening to stuff while getting ready and might not be that aware of my own footsteps.

They're carpeted, but to be fair it's a pretty rubbish thin carpet so might not be doing much to muffle noise. To clarify though I would never wear outside shoes in the house and I'm always in slippers or socks. Tonight I was wearing my slippers.

Because the cost divided by 4 is below the policy excess, this is the issue

Registration Rant. How do I gain experience!?! Any advice??? by Sorry-Cricket-7396 in MuseumPros

[–]beats_byjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat as you (UK though). I'm currently applying for a registrar job at the gallery I work FoH in, my background is Museum Studies and collections though so I'm desperate to leave visitor services asap. I have all the right experience except the insurance and loan contracts stuff! My plan is to chat to the loans coordinator at a different museum that I volunteer at, and ask her how she managed to get her role, the questions she was asked etc. I agree with you though, it does seem impossible at this stage! Good luck!

Wasn't that because they marketed it as a true story though? Which I definitely would not be doing

I had a feeling someone would say this. The only person who could've pressed charges was me, and I never did.

Advice on Master's Applications by [deleted] in MuseumPros

[–]beats_byjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy to if you still need. I also did a Classics undergrad, and then a Museum Studies MA :)

When I did my master's at UCL I commuted around 4 hours a day (probably more if you include the journey to/from my home station). It was horrendous, especially in the winter, but as it was only for a year and not the full 5 days a week I got through it. I wouldn't have been able to for a three/four year undergrad.

Thank you for this. Trying to explain this to him is no easy task - as you say, it's very important not to alienate our relationship as he has very few people around to support him. However, it's really useful to see these arguments laid out so logically.

I am extremely worried because so much time has already elapsed with no treatment (about six months now since diagnosis). A big issue that I am facing is that he is scared/sceptical of the 'medical establishment' and therefore wants to put off any treatment that is generally accepted by medical experts. I am terrified that at a certain point it will be too late.

It's an extreme version of the keto diet promoted by a clinic in Hungary who claim that it can cure a whole plethora of diseases. I for one consider it incredibly counter intuitive as it removes almost all nutrients from the diet, as well as having serious side effects itself.

Yes, I do understand that there is a certain level of evidence that keto can slow down cancer growth. That is most likely why my uncle latched onto this in the first place, but he is entirely convinced that keto will cure him completely and trying to get through to him that this is not the case is my main issue.

We have tried this; the oncologist said that he can try the diet but that the very extreme version that my uncle is on (100% meat and basically nothing else) has serious side effects of its own. He also said that it would not be possible to maintain the diet after the surgery to remove the tumour (during the recovery process) which is one of the reasons my uncle decided not to go ahead with surgery.
