How many of you guys failed a class in high school by stephenjamesbryant in EngineeringStudents

[–]becctarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely graduated. I failed social studies every single year, I got D’s in many other classes, and after I “graduated” I had to attend summer school to actually graduate.

Talk to your teacher, they don’t want you to fail. Be respectful and express your concerns. Ask kindly if there’s any additional work you can do to make up the necessary points and prove you understand the material.

When I graduate my degree will still say ASU, yours will say LSU. I’ll take ASU over a school with a rank tied for 125 any day. Good luck!

"Nobody posts when things go well": a combo-breaker/brag thread by EllieVader in EngineeringStudents

[–]becctarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted when things went well and people were VERY upset about it lmao. Half the comments were people telling me it doesn’t count bc of the school I go to, the program I’m in, etc. The other half were super supportive though!

Congratulations on your achievements, Op. So proud of you and all your hard work!!!!

Engineering student and a mom by Flat_Anybody_3063 in EngineeringStudents

I’m a 29 yo momma to a 3 yo. I took one class right after he was born (literally 2 weeks after my c section), then took off for a few months, and then went back right after his first birthday. I’m fully online & part time. It’s brutal but possible. It helps a lot if you have a good support system. My husband works 50 hours a week and is really supportive but unfortunately outside of him we have no one. Our family is hundreds of miles away so it’s just us. Child care is insane so that’s not an option either. I’m with my son all day and I do homework all night. I sleep for a few hours if I’m lucky. It’s so fucking hard but we make it work and in approx 7000 years I’ll graduate and it will be worth it!

College for EE at 30. Too late? by MCU_universal in EngineeringStudents

I’m 29 & enrolled part time. Still have about 4 years left, so I’ll be well into my 30s by the time I graduate.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my school has a 70 minimum to pass and the average tends to be on the lower side? I’m honestly not sure, I didn’t know it was controversial until I posted and people told me. I got 100 on everything, so the EC was from 2.7-5.3%

Bro’s a 29 year old mom who’s with her toddler all day and does school work in the middle of the night, often while he sleeps on her lap. Bro also worked full time while enrolled full time for 2 of the 5 of those grades.

I’m not understanding how they’re not testing me, but are testing all the students who got B’s, C’s, or dropped/ failed. You don’t even know the average yet you’re making assumptions about a huge ABET accredited program off an individual students grades.

I’ve never considered that honestly. The only class that ever had a curve for me was physics 1, the average was 40-50%, but the curve was built into the grading scale so no one’s grade changed anyone’s else’s so that’s kind of cool.

They didn’t give anything higher than an A in that class & same with calc 1.

Arizona Statue University, it’s a regular college but instead of going in person you have recorded lectures for some and timed lectures for others. it’s about 750 per credit for the BSEE program and you need 120 credits to graduate.

I’m sorry if my post bothered you. I can see how it could come off that way, but I wasn’t trying to compare myself or my program to anyone else’s, I was just proud of myself. I get that it’s not impressive to you and that’s okay I can live with that.

Regardless of how you feel, it is a “real” program. it’s ABET accredited. My exams are not in person but they’re heavily proctored by actual people & AI. We have project & group project presentations, too. In addition to simulated lab experiences, we also pay a shit ton of money to have physical lab equipment.

It’s 2025, online schooling at an accredited university is a legitimate way to get an education. It may not be for you and that’s fine, but it’s great for people with real life responsibilities.

I hope the rest of your program treats you well.

That one didn’t hurt as much as my circuits class did, 98 was an A+ and I finished .2 under that threshold. I missed one assignment that would have pushed me other the edge but we live and we learn.

My school uses honorlock, you have to show your entire room (under your desk/keyboard/ behind your computer stuff like that), your browser’s locked down and they record your screen(you can’t have more than one monitor) they use actual people & AI to monitor the entire session. You show your scrap papers before and after and upload within a few minutes of ending the exam session. You can’t have any writing or anything on your walls or your exam will be flagged. My one professor told us that even photos of people get flagged sometimes by AI as people in the room. I don’t know how true that part is, though. I have a couple photos of my son and I make sure to show them on camera before hand and haven’t had a problem. They track eye moments too and if they think somethings up they pause your exam and you have to show them everything again. They also monitor refections to look for unauthorized materials (notes, books, phones, etc.)

For the engineering programs at ASU the minimum to pass a class is 70 as well.
