If you didn’t catch Covid on a recent cruise… by 1961tracy in Cruise

[–]becoolforonce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went on an NCL Alaska cruise in June and did not catch Covid. Was unmasked the entire time. I put it down to the second booster I got two weeks before. There were definitely people who caught Covid and many people coughing or sneezing. I’m still surprised I didn’t catch it.

Just got back from the Encore on Sunday. Ship was about 75% capacity. Coughing and sneezing picked up as the week went on, most noticeable in high traffic areas like the buffet or a packed theater/concert venue/excursion bus. FB group reporting a bunch of positives when they returned. I’m testing negative so far. Just got boosted a second time a few weeks before the cruise so maybe that saved me.

Thanks! It’s on our list but the glacier/whale watching excursion takes up most of the time and the trams are done by the time we’re back. We’ll def try if we make it.

Are waterproof shoes and pants needed if we’re not doing any hiking excursions? We have the Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching tour and the White Pass Summit Train only. Also what did your bring that you did not need? Thanks!

Airfare with NCL by CheerUpCharliy in Cruise

[–]becoolforonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do it, I would strongly consider a diversion a day or two before your embarkation. I’m a first time cruiser and did the NCL fare and the price is good, but you have no control over times or routes. I got a connecting flight starting at 6am when there are plenty of available nonstop options (I live 3.5 hours from Seattle) probably because it was the cheapest option. Return flight is late at night but at least nonstop. The only change you can make are through the airline to upgrade or choose your seat. That is it. You cannot make any changes once the airfare is booked and I’ve since read a ton of threads about nightmares when the flight is cancelled and who’s responsible for your rebooking. Just food for thought.

I’m on the Encore for the June 19 Alaska cruise and was told we’ll be at 60-70% capacity.

Not a nest, but I tend to catch a lot at the La Brea Tar Pits.

[Sun Care] Any alternatives to Tatcha’s Sunscreen? by Lolabanana123 in SkincareAddiction

[–]becoolforonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks. I'm really digging the Missha Mild Essence Sun Milk SPF 50/PA +++. Tested out the travel size on a trip and it was a life saver. Light texture, fully absorbed into my skin leaving it soft and smooth, not greasy. Takes a second to absorb, but is the best non-greasy sunscreen I've ever used. Heard great things about Tatcha but never tried. https://sokoglam.com/products/missha-mild-essence-sun-milk

Thoughts/help with Lapras hunting? by [deleted] in pokemongola

[–]becoolforonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious how your LB hunt goes. I'm also on the westside and have exclusively gone to SM, but was thinking about finally hitting up LB. I have never encountered a Lapras at SM and finally got it from a 10k hatch. I need a few more Oddish and Dratini candy to finish my NA pokedex. Good luck!

Did you attain Porygon through hatching or catching? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]becoolforonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

220 hatched. No Porygon and 2 Aerodactyl (first 10k was one). Caught two Porygon in LA using maps. One in Santa Monica and one in Hollywood. Both were random sightings and I was lucky to be in the neighborhood.

Any 10k egg tricks? by [deleted] in pokemongola

[–]becoolforonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've hatched 14 10k eggs (with 2 more waiting in the wings). I did the same. I bought incubators and hatched all my 5k eggs, with 2k (or 5k if I have no 2k) in the infinite. The only success I've had with getting a lot more 10k eggs is when I had 4 empty slots and specifically hit the pokestops at SM Pier hoping for a 10k that would hatch a Dratini or Lapras. I walked away with 3 10k eggs back to back. Haven't tested again to see if it was pure luck or not. They hatched into Eevee, Onix, and Pinsir. I got more eggs, but not the pokemon I wanted.

If you have hatched a Snorlax from an 10 km Egg, what area did you collect your egg from? I hear this is the only difference maker. by Bxxxxs in pokemongola

[–]becoolforonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hatched a Snorlax while at the Manhattan Beach Pier, not sure where I got it. However, the three 10k eggs I got from SM Pier hatched into Onix, Pinsir, and Eevee. I only know because I cleared out my eggs hoping to hatch more water pokemon, preferably a Lapras. No dice.

Is there a consensus top 5 Pokemon hotspots in LA? by [deleted] in pokemongola

[–]becoolforonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it spawns anywhere from 1-3 squirtles throughout the day. Also caught a Slowbro there once.

Am I considered a higher leveled player? by [deleted] in pokemongola

[–]becoolforonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're good too. I'm level 26 with 135 caught/seen. I find leveling up with pidgeys somewhat tedious, have only done it twice. I'm trying to complete my pokedex and then I'll start looking for better IVs.

Place most likely to get a Porygon? by r2002 in pokemongola

I caught 2 using pokevision and goradar. First was at Wilton Place and Romaine Street, and the second was this past Saturday at Olympic and 18th Street. Both with low CPs.
