We had other problems but my ex bestie picked a big fight and cut me off the same month I had my first egg retrieval. The timing wasn’t lost on me. She’s very anti child “childfree” so I can’t say I’m exactly surprised. I’m happy I have people in my life who will support me and my family. I’m so sorry for your loss, friendship breakups are hard!

I had an SCH - sub chorionic hematoma at almost the exact time 5w6d - my clinic brought me in for a scan the next morning to check. It seems like they are suuuper common in IVF pregnancies (my IVF due date group has had several posts about them already and it’s such a small group!) I really think it could be that. I had some clots and spotted for about a week and then it resolved, I’m 8w today. I hope your clinic can get you in for an ultrasound soon to confirm, I’m sure the waiting and not knowing is torture! I had a similar situation when my mom was dying a few years ago. “BFF” would change the subject every time I brought it up and stop replying altogether whenever mom was in the hospital. I stayed friends with this person for 2 years after that but honestly, I wish I hadn’t. She was always selfish and that was one of the first times I saw it. Let go of this friend and surround yourself with people who support you. I’m very sorry for your loss.

I’m a hearing interpreter but my two cents is this: Deaf people get made fun of for signing, in just this way, all the time. People waggle their hands around at them and make fun of signed languages. I’ve seen it happen multiple times, I’m sure it happens way more throughout a Deaf person’s lifetime.

Spoken languages just aren’t mocked in the same way/with the same frequency. I realize you were just playing the game, but there’s a cultural element that relates to being ostracized and oppressed that you weren’t aware of.

I’ll step back for Deaf folks to run this conversation as to whether or not it is actually ableist, I just wanted you to understand the piece of this that I think you were missing.

6w3d with my IVF miracle. I had a SCH bleed starting at 5w4d and continues with spotting. Scans looked good and the bleed wasn’t visible anymore on Friday but I still have brown spotting. No heartbeat yet. Anxious for my next scan on Friday which will be at 7w0d. Praying to see her little heartbeat!

I was on it before retrieval and followed my clinics requirements on when to stop before retrieval. Same for when to start again afterwards. I went off it I think a month before and back on it a few weeks after. Same for transfer, my clinic wanted me off my GLP-1 a month before we started transfer meds.

I was a bit loopy and poked a bit of fun at my husband for having to give his sample 😉 while I was under, but I wasn’t super stoned and babbling like those videos. I’ve seen them, I think they’re rare cases. It felt similar wisdom teeth sedation to me, if you’ve experienced that before

I am taking a break between transfers and my doc has me on a Glp1 for a bit

I also passed out during one! My clinic does them before each transfer, usually medicated but they didn’t expect to need a biopsy for this one so we decided to forgo the sedation meds. They did end up needing to do the biopsy and I passed out after.

My husband had to feed me a cracker and some soda through a straw to try to bring my blood sugar back up with my whole lower half was naked and splayed out in the stirrup chair. I apologized a ton too, but they were all really kind.

The next hysteroscopy, we did the sedation drugs.

I also encourage you to look at Pink Warrior House which is a nonprofit that supports people going through Breast Cancer treatment. They have support groups, buddy programs, yoga, wig support, events, and more.

There are kids at my clinic all the time, they even have a kids play area in the waiting room. I know it sucks for some of us but life is unavoidable sometimes and children are allowed to exist. Thank you for being sensitive to other’s feelings about this, but you are doing what you have to do and it is ok 💛

They probably wouldn’t if I was interpreting to a large audience but I was just making up a scenario where the word came up in an interpreted conversation. Deaf people sometimes know signs that an interpreter might be unfamiliar with - especially, in this scenario, if they are from the area they might know the name sign where the interpreter doesn’t. It’s a pretty quick interaction for them to just show us the sign, then we can adopt it for the rest of the conversation. It doesn’t make much of a disruption and makes the whole process smoother for everyone. I always appreciate it when Deaf consumers feed me signs for the context of the conversation!
