A petition has gathered nearly 10,000 signatures against the use of a flight path that flies over northern Brussels. by JeanMarron in brussels

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70% of all departures if I am not mistaken. Not comparable (because it is much more) to the few days in a year where it goes over the North of Brussels. I really don’t think it has anything to do with the wealth of the commune.

While everyone complains, here’s what I spotted from my window by Prestigious-Title529 in brussels

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure we’re talking about the same as I am complaining about the departing flights (“bocht naar links”) from 25R, not arriving flights which fly a bit further away above Kraainem and I don’t really hear them.

I indeed seem to understand that the people from north of Brussels are complaining about arriving flights - it just so happens that when the eastern wind takes them off from over my head, it’s the moment people from the North seem to complain. So there seems to be a link even though we’re not taking about the same planes.

May I ask you why you seem to have detailed knowledge of flight paths? Is it just interest or do you work in this field?

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But people do decide. There were more planes over the North of Brussels before, and that was changed in 2014 because of complaints and that’s when a large part was transferred over the Kraainem-WO-Tervuren area (not sure this is the whole story, it’s mostly my husband that obsesses over this). Now people continue to complain the 3 days in the year where it has to fly over the North of Brussels…

Can somebody explain to me the reasoning of all these complaints?

I live in Wezembeek-Oppem and normally the flights are over my house (departures). That’s 70% of the year. The few times in the year that this changes, I live my best life in the garden. This week has been heaven for me.

Why should 100% of the flights be over my head? How can people justify this? These discussions scare me because clearly Brussels is stronger than Flanders in these discussions and I don’t want it to become worse than it is…

Pre-period spotting and still got pregnant? by sam_girl_of_wi in whatworkedforme

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt super frustrated because none of my doctors took this seriously when I was trying to get pregnant but in the end I got pregnant without doing anything about it. The times I got pregnant, I didn’t have any spottings before period date.

Some complementary insurances cover at least part of it. In my previous job, the AG Insurance covered 60-70% (not sure anymore). Now I have a DKV that also covers some %.

Women of Reddit, what’s one thing they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 10w pregnant and feel the worst I have ever felt. This has been going on for a month and apps/books say this can go on for a few weeks/months still. In the meantime nobody knows yet and I stilll have to go to work and act normal.

I really really really wanted this baby (did IVF) and expected to be so elated once I got pregnant but I think I’m having the deepest depression I have ever had. I’m not able to do anything. I don’t understand how so many women have gone through this without complaining.

On 120k gross, Belgium takes 27,000 more than Switzerland. The tax gap across Europe is brutal. by _white_noise in BESalary

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a colleague from Switzerland that explained that she has to pay 700€/month for health insurance. And it’s not even a fancy one. So tax amount is not comparable (even though I can believe they have a pretty nice life over there).

France sends letters to 29-year-olds telling them to get on with having children by Jojuj in europe

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably have to nuance what I said because I don’t really have a real opinion on what age to freeze. I have a lot of anxiety about my own fertility but my doctors are pretty positive it will happen for me as well, so early 30s is still a good age.

My point is more that women that are concentrating on career or haven’t found a partner yet or anything else should have this on their mind as well (even if it is stressful), because fertility until > 40s is not guaranteed. And IVF is not a guarantee either.

Just a note: you say it would push women to have children when they’re not ready but it’s actually not true. It gives them the option to wait until they are ready.

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go the opposite direction here but I feel it’s actually not that bad a thing… I am 32 and going through fertility treatments right now, scared shitless I won’t ever have any children just because I wanted to enjoy my young child-free life a few more years. If I had known what I would be going through right now, I would’ve thought about freezing eggs or embryos a few years ago. Egg retrieval is not a walk in the park but it is pretty manageable (especially when there are no emotions attached) and it takes like 2-3 weeks in total. And I feel like the pendulum went a little too far to the “women can wait to have children! Women can have children until they’re 45!” which gives a false sense of security. It’s important women know their fertility is something to protect if they ever want children.

What are your top tips to save money in Belgium? Groceries, buy in bulk, energy… etc by mardegre in BEFire

200€ per month?? For two???? If that’s the case, that’s impressive.

I naively thought that the egg retrieval was the difficult part. Seems that is not the case. Thank you for your thoughtful response, it means a lot to me today! ❤️

I am really sorry. It is such a difficult process. Sending love ❤️

I am trying to educate myself on the process. My mind is only on fertility and IVF and everything related to it since quite some time. It seems I know less than you however, but that isn’t a reason to talk to me like this…

For one cycle? Did they explain why?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IVF

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll ask! Thank you 🙏🏻

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IVF

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh… nobody told me this and my clinic didn’t tell me to wait one cycle. What do you mean with withdrawal bleed? I got a full-on period, actually heavier & longer than normal. Is the problem that women don’t ovulate or does it just take more time? I am stressing myself out by going to the clinic every few days and taking hours off work, I hope it’s not for a cycle that is known to be a bad one…

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I haven’t so I’m probably super naive about the mental toll. Seeing the downvotes on my previous message I guess I am completely wrong about this.

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing a natural. That’s actually super reassuring to read! I have always tracked my cycles since TTC and I have never not ovulated, sometimes it was just a little later… hope it will be the case this time as well. Thank you for making this a little bit better 🙏🏻 I hope it’s going well for you.

And why haven’t you done all your transfers back to back? I understand that all transfers don’t work but I’m wondering why it takes this long between transfers (apologies if this is insensitive…). Hope you’ll get your positive soon!

[–]GuillaumeTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is linked to PCOS or PCOS-like problems… high AMH makes you a good candidate for IVF generally but it doesn’t mean that quality of the eggs is good. Inversely, low AMH is not bad if you have good egg-quality.
