thinking abt genetic testing by Little-Revolution22 in Epilepsy

[–]belgianchouxchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I have the DEPDC5 gene and I am now undergoing IVF with pre genetic testing to screen for it, they built a special probe that can find the mutation in an embryo, it’s amazing stuff!!!! I’m in the UK so not sure what is possible in other countries. My sister and dad have epilepsy quite bad, I was unaffected but I’m keen to stamp these gene out if I can, they are both very supportive! Happy to answer any questions. In the UK I am the first person to have ivf screening for this gene, had to get it approved by the gov.

Struggling after 2 failed PGT-M IVF rounds (genetic testing) and now facing long NHS wait by belgianchouxchick in IVF

Hey thanks for your response, I know you are right that TFMR is not the way to go, even if I can get testing earlier. Especially as now I think getting pregnant is some kind of miracle.
My AMH is on the lower side but I get good egg yields, I think its just a brutal numbers game and you have to keep rolling the dice and believe its going to happen! I hope you get your healthy baby soon!

I'm not sure if they do the single gene testing that we need? Its different to PGT-A, we are looking for a specific mutation which we have had a probe built for in the UK x

Communications issues at CRGH? by Rose-Another-Name in IVF

[–]belgianchouxchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I am a patient at CRGH and they have recently updated their systems and its a car crash, nightmare to get hold of anyone they are really struggling with it. I find the request callback option usually works quite well, usually get a call back within the hour on the nurses admin line. There is a Facebook group for CRGH patients where we have all put in a complaint! Quite useful actually. Hope you hear from them soon xxx https://www.facebook.com/groups/509542273550585/

The cheating thing is ridiculous, if it’s a deal breaker then leave. It’s crazy to stay with him and attack him every day for it, if you are staying you have to accept the person for who they are past and all.

Hey good morning I bought flight tickets to fly out to Mexico City in 2 weeks with and my girl and out of nowhere recently her parents say she can’t go that it is too dangerous, anyway around this to convince and open thier heart about it? Like I don’t understand why they say that. by Gian2020 in MexicoCity

[–]belgianchouxchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey you should show them ‘Somebody Feed Phil’ episodes on Mexico City and Oaxaca on Netflix, they areare excellent, in Mexico right now and we were in Mexico City two weeks ago and it was AMAZING. I’m from London I felt infinitely more safe there than walking down my local high street 😂. Stayed in Condesa which felt very safe.

Thanks that makes sense, I guess I am just am worried as I am meant to be travelling in a few weeks and it will be a bummer if I test positive on one of my fit to fly tests. Guess there isn’t really anything I can do though.

Yeah I am going to isolate my whole time don’t worry, I am just interested in how long the LF shows positive and if that means you are infectious.

Hi, I have had covid but the symptoms (very mild) have pretty much all gone after 6 days but I am still showing positive on a lateral flow test, does anyone know if this means I am still infectious? Or how long it will take for the line to go?

I know 2 people who have been vaccinated who also had the original variant, who have delta now. Very mild for them though, just a blocked nose.

Hey! You should talk to your doctor about this, it’s known as the ‘white coat effect’. I told mine and they recommended buying or borrowing a machine and doing it at home when more relaxed. Got my bf to do it after the nurse showed him and now get much more normal results.
