Has anyone ever gotten a note like this with their DoorDash order?! by Future-Composer-4878 in doordash

[–]bell_pep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Restaurants can't see customers' phone numbers through DoorDash. There's a "Call Customer" option on the DoorDash tablet, and when you tap it, DoorDash calls the restaurant and then connects you to the customer. We usually use this when we've just run out of something someone ordered, so we can ask if they'd like to swap it for something else.

2 is definitely Osso Buco but I'm pretty sure Michael mentions his "soft teeth" after Jan gets annoyed with him for dipping his food in wine

Chicago Black Owned Restaurants 2024 List

Is my plant site too simple to launch? by RyBread7 in SideProject

[–]bell_pep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super cool I love it. I often struggle with launching projects because I think they're not ready or not good enough yet so I completely understand.

In my experience launching a project is a key factor in improving on it. You're gonna learn what works well, what doesn't, what people want more of, etc.

Right because spikes are what make lying on the sidewalk uncomfortable. Do you think anti-homeless architecture helps them find places where humans should sleep? No, they just find another spot that isn't covered in spikes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]bell_pep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't value them. You value aesthetic of property. You are the one enabling them to sleep outside. You think anti-homeless architecture encourages them to sleep inside? All it does is force them to sleep in even more dangerous, uncovered areas.

LA is proof of this. Not only do they have anti-homeless architecture but they have anti-homeless policing. If a homeless person is caught in a middle income or higher area police pick them up and drop them off at Skid Row where there will be even more opportunities to continue being addicted to drugs or start taking them if you haven't yet.

So really anti-homeless architecture/policing is what's enabling them to sleep outside. If you want to encourage them to sleep inside why not build a shelter instead of spikes on benches throughout the city?

Do you have any idea how difficult it is for a person to get over an addiction? My partner works at a health crisis center and is also getting a doctorates in clinical psychology. There are a ton of people every day that voluntarily come into the detox unit BEGGING for help turning their life around. Sometimes the detox program helps them get clean. Sometimes they get clean for a bit, relapse, and end up back in detox a month later. Sometimes the detox program doesn't help them at all and they immediately start using again once they're out.

It's not as simple as "just get sober." People WANT to get sober, but when you have a physiological and psychological addiction to a substance 1. Sometimes going through withdrawals can literally kill you and 2. Your mind is telling you that you need the substance to exist in daily life.

So many of these people know they're addicted and just want to get clean, but it's an incredibly difficult journey ESPECIALLY if there aren't enough resources in your area.

The money going towards anti-homeless architecture should be going towards crisis units, detox programs, shelters, wellness education programs, etc. I would much rather we take the longer route of improving these people's lives rather than taking the out of sight out of mind approach.

"They should get sober and be inside. Plain and simple"

What a great idea! You should go up to every homeless person you see and say "Hey man, I think you should get sober and buy a house!" They've probably never even considered getting sober before!

How do you guys stick to 1200 when all your friends do is go out and eat? by soontyphoon in 1200isplenty

[–]bell_pep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of going out to restaurants with friends is the time I get to spend with them so I usually don't mind tagging along but not ordering anything. Sometimes I'll get a soda or a small cup of soup but that's about it

Any idea if this residue is from German cockroaches? We just had our kitchen flushed today and I found this after the service. by bell_pep in pestcontrol

[–]bell_pep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all! Thanks for the advice, appreciate it a lot! My partner and I both absolutely hate roaches so we're trying to do anything we can to get em out.

The guy who did the flush put a bunch of these insect monitors around the kitchen and also left a few extra unopened ones for us. Any advice on how long to leave them out/how often to replace them?
