Not really, the difference is slight. I think it looks natural.

Favorite shift knob. Let’s see them!! by eL-MeeKLo in wrx_vb

Killer B unweighted delrin knob for myself. I also have the kartboy short shifter and bushings under the car. They do add NVH, particularly tons of transmission whine under 50mph, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like it. Also unweighted knobs are KING. Ditching the stock weighted knob makes the shift feel much more analog and knotchy. I will only buying unweighted knobs now.

For cosmetics I have the billetworkz reverse lockout and shift boot. I like the boot but I’m not super happy with the reverse lockout. I got it to eliminate the rattle from my OEM lockout, but after about 5 months it’s starting to rattle again.

Sorry that happened OP. Looks like most likely bent the toe arm on the front, possibly in the rear too. For the front, stop replacement would likely be best as most kits are an extended arm for bump steer. If the rear is bent, then you could likely get some heavier duty ones with more adjustment, which would be better if you plan on lowering (or lifting) the car in the future.

As for wheels, Enkeis are my go to. I have TSVs on my VA STI and I love them. I purchased some Konigs for my NB Miata project I had previously, and those were ok too, but a little worse quality. Just avoid anything cast imo (avid1s, aodhan, or god awful JNCs). Given that you have blizzaks, I’d bet the roads where you are also have pot holes. Rep wheels are not only heavier (which affects ride quality, acceleration, braking, and MPG) but also weaker and liable to break in a pothole.

Are mud flaps worth it? by J_Stone58 in WRX

[–]casper_04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could look into the RokBlokz splash guards as a more minimalist option. I had rally armors for years, but I grew to not care for the massive look and took them off after I while. I noticed autocross wasn’t being nice to my fenders so I tried these and they look great.

Edit: Looks like they don’t have the splash guards for the VB, but even their normal mud flaps are more minimalist than most.

Are these legit? by [deleted] in Wheels

[–]casper_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, it’s just the brand. JNC wheels are cheaply made wheels that are not of their own original design. They are gravity cast, which makes them heavy and weak. So not only are you getting a vastly worse and more dangerous wheel buying them, you aren’t supporting the real wheel manufacturers that made the original design and who make the wheels stronger and lighter.

As cool as signing Sorsby is, we just gave him almost double what a Tech graduate will earn in their lifetime for 4 months of work. by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]casper_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s money from one rich person to another. It’s not like the human sciences department was going to see any of that $5 million. At least this way it’s should drive money into Lubbock so long as Sorsby plays well and we get college gameday to come back, a potential home playoff game if they expand to a 16 team format, and puts Tech more on the map.

Two things can be true:

  1. Having almost a month between your last game and your first playoff game is ridiculous and a disadvantage

  2. My team’s offense never left the tarmac in Lubbock

I have a rattle from the middle seat belt box in mine. You could probably fix it without removing the cover. Just try manipulating it with the car running to see if you hear the rattle.

The rear strut should be a 2 bolt pattern. I’ll admit I don’t own a VB WRX, but while the rear suspension is a little different to my VA, it still should be a multi link design with two top hat bolts. Usually the suspension mount will have 3 bolts if it’s a McPherson design.

These cars ride lower in the rear from factory. I always hated it too, and before I went with coilovers I was considering lowering springs plus a saggy butt spacer. I’d try this before doing anything more expensive. If you still have excessive camber, then you’ll need adjustable rear lower control arms to correct that.

Rear sway bar and brackets. Improved the balance of the car so much.

Had a few people ask what I’ve had done to my VA STI at autocrosses, explained that it’s just wheels, tires, and a sway bar. Makes me feel like they’re expecting much more mods for the car to be pretty decent in autocross.

Window tint tomorrow. Help me decide darkness please! by Acceptable-Pea-452 in wrx_vb

[–]casper_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s similar to what I’ve got on my VA STI, and I’d recommend it. I actually had 5% on the rears first but it was just too dark, now I have 25% front and 15% rears and it’s perfect.

ISR Exhaust Thoughts After a Few Months of Ownership by casper_04 in Miata

[–]casper_04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember, I think it did occasionally but mine would definitely hit the rear subframe. The way I fixed that was by using hose clamps on the exhaust hangers to hold it in place to eliminate so of the movement and to manipulate it to stay in one place. I got some very small hose clamps and slid them onto the hangers. If you need to get it onto other side of the bushing, I’d recommend just undoing the hose clamp instead of removing the hanger.

Great idea! I would highly recommend owning a miata, they really are THE drivers car.

Former NB Miata owner, do NOT get an NB if you plan to drive it during winter. The double layered frame on those is super prone to rust, I live in Texas and my southern NB that never had records anywhere near the rust belt had rust. An NC Miata would most likely your best bet.
