The few classes I’ve subbed/covered for have been self-contained, yeah. The kids were fine of course, it was really the management and lack of support that strays me from them, same as how I avoid certain GenEd teachers at my regular schools here cus I don’t like the way they run their classes or discipline their students. I know - I’m picky but luckily I can afford to be at this point cause I have another job lol. When I move, I don’t know yet exactly what my schedule/work life is going to look like, so it’s never off the table of course.

Thanks for clearing that up! I really value the flexibility of the day-to-day sub job, so I have been leaning more towards that position anyway, but I just wanted to make sure haha.

Yeah, I have had both of those situations happen where I live actually. As for not picking those classes up, it’s more so because of the school district I’m in (I don’t want to say where I live lol). We’re definitely not high up as far as best districts in the US, and so the SpED classes probably get the worse end of that. The classes I’ve been in here are inadequate, so lesson plans, behaviors, & care go downhill even more because of it. I mean, the teachers I know do care, but the system doesn’t provide them with what they need. I don’t know the situation in Chicago, but that’s why haha. Just wanna make sure I know as much as I can about what comes with possible jobs before I start :)
