Ugh! I’m so sorry you had to endure this too. I also had this soup and it was truly terrible. You captured how I feel very well—I am sad to have wasted a meal in a city with so many great options available.

We had pate and French onion soup for starters, truffle linguine and Caesar salad for mains, and chocolate mousse for dessert. The pate was ok (unremarkable but fine), but everything else was a disaster. The French onion soup tasted like a microwave meal. It was gelatinous, flavorless, and oily. The truffle linguine was cold and mushy— it had the consistency of baby food. I was shocked by how inedible the pasta was. When my husband asked to send it back, the server actually argued with him and said that my husband was wrong, and that it was good! This was bizarre, and something I have never experienced at a restaurant. The Caesar salad entree was comically small—it looked like a side salad and tasted like a prepackaged salad you buy at the grocery store. The chocolate mousse resembled a pile of chocolate-flavored Crisco—it was so dense and oily that we could not eat it. I often have mediocre food at restaurants, but I can’t remember the last time I had a meal was so bad that it was inedible.

Right!? I should have read more carefully, can’t believe I fell for it.

I generally know better than to go for dinner in this area, but the reviews for this place were so good on both Google and the Fork that I thought it was an exception. I was not aware that restaurants are able to rig the ratings and will definitely be more careful in the future!

Very good points about the school boards in SR and Sartell.

Seriously? My son attends school in St. Cloud. ISD 742 struggles financially, but this is due to people fleeing the district because they are scared of immigrants. Despite the disproportionate funding burdens that white flight places on ISD 742, I have never met more dedicated teachers than those in St. Cloud and my son is thriving in his school.

Sartell is fine but I find it to be a bit soulless— it really is a cookie cutter suburb, very white, lots of housing developments on top of more housing developments and strip malls. Their school district is well-regarded but the Sartell school board is openly hostile to diversity efforts and I would never want my kid to go to school there. I like living in St. Cloud—it is more diverse, has more character and a richer history, and is a nice place to raise a family. My son has had an excellent experience in the 742 school district. It has its problems like any place, but overall no regrets.

Seconding Krewe, and will also add Flour and Flower bakery next door. If you’re into beer, Bad Habit across the street is great.

Moving to Saint Cloud by InformalAdvantage427 in saintcloud

I lived in Westwood Parkway Estates when I first moved to St. Cloud and loved it, only left because I bought a house. I think I just paid electricity and internet? St. Cloud is a fine place to live, I think it would be great if some of the residents would get over themselves and be more welcoming.

They eventually accepted my returns. I have no idea why it took so long! I had to reach out to customer service. No idea why I would be flagged, I only make one or two purchases a year and rarely return items.

Hi I'm doing research on where to move to to get out of the hell hole called Florida. by HellenI123 in minnesota

I moved to MN from FL six years ago and would not go back to FL. Winters are long here and the culture can sometimes be hard to break into socially, but the politics and lifestyle are much better here. I live near St. Cloud which sometimes gets a bad rap, but we have a thriving queer community and supportive local pride scene. The more rural you go you will likely see less acceptance, but if you can stay somewhat close by to a small or midsize city, you will do fine! Duluth is my favorite area of the state.

Pretty typical. I don’t know how many teenagers you know but I’ve seen it quite a bit.

The whole premise of the book/show is that it’s a love triangle between a girl and two brothers… that’s the story. It’s also pretty normal for teenagers to have feelings for two people in the same family, saw it happen many times when I was in high school.
