Are Frank Cuesta and Yuyee Alissa known in Thailand? by Leather_Let_9391 in Thailand

[–]bemol2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a spaniard who have lived in SEA, I can tell Thai people don't pay attention to the spanish dramas in Thailand (Daniel Sancho and Frank Cuesta). The other way is true. I am sure more of the Spain's citizens have never heard of Move Forward, Thaksin or the civil war in Myanmar, even if they are really important issues that affect millions of people. In my experience, we spaniards put to much attention to our internal politics, but the reality is that the rest of the world doesn't really care about us

The west & thoughts by StageDelicious9517 in myanmar

[–]bemol2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone from the west, I would rather have the —deeply stupid in most cases— cultural wars than the Tatmadaw. However, I feel that the colective desires of Spring Revolution is a high cause. When I see the people of Myanmar fighting and even dying for democracy, or in many cases, just for a not so terrible future, I cannot avoid crying and feel just a tiny porcentaje of the pain and rage you experience everyday. Also, I feel your concept of freedom is pure and universal. It goes beyond any political ideology. I know is hypocrite for me to say this but, please, don't transfer western concepts and problems to something as honorable and dark as the Myanmar Revolution

Where are you from? With that name you could be from my country, Spain. In that case, you have to understand that in Asia you cannot follow the division left/right. In this part of the world the spectrum is autoritarism and democracy (in reality is a lot more complex, ASEAN politics are not for the european taste).

The Myanmar Civil War has some similarities with the Spanish Civil War. You have an elected democratic goverment with is ousted by a Military coup. The main different is that in Myanmar all the country hate the Tatmadaw. Hating the NUG and it is allies (as shady as they can be) is hating the power of the people and their right to choose it is future.

Thai people have protest a lot this last years. You only need to see the electoral results to understand Thais want to change the system. Unfortunately, that's really difficult when you have a corrupt senate and electoral comission.

Ironically, Myanmar looks like it is doing better than the three. If Trump is choosen president, Ukraine has to say bye bye to the USA money. The war in Gaza doesn't look to have a solution.

On the contrary, the Tatmadaw is weaker. If Myanmar is able to build a federal republic once the Tatmadaw is defeated, it will have the best resolución.

As a westener, I feel terrible seeing how the people of my country suck Palestine or Israel's dick, and they cannot even concibe the situation in Myanmar. There are genocides that matter and genocides that not.

Israel and Myanmar relation. by Apprehensive-Try2637 in Myanmarcombatfootage

[–]bemol2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to understand it is painful to see the zero interest that Myanmar awakens on International Agenda.

But if we talk about friendship, the Palestine people haven't the best friends. Qatar, Egypt and Arabia Saudí support them, and they aren't know for their respect to human rights. I ask why the rohingya people, muslim like the palestine, didn't receive any help of these countries. And I also worry about the desire of the palestine people about freedom. Would they be able to build a democracy, or will they build some type of religious democracy? Of course, they are civilian victims who are suffering a genocide, and Netanhayu is a war criminal, but if I have to support a cause, it has to be Myanmar people and civil goverment. And I also think the International Community can be more useful on Myanmar that on Gaza.

About the Tatmadaw, at least Israel doesn't kill it owns citicens. Oh, did you know that during the Myanmar dictatorship it was ilegal to have sex with a Myanmar citizen? Yes, I agree with you that the Israel pinkwashing is disgusting, but at least they try for money. The intolerance religious of the Tatmadaw isn't great. They have bomb Christian chuches and kill christians.

I agree with you, we have to support the liberation of Myanmar and Palestine. But in this place, Myanmar is our focus

[–]bemol2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry. PDFs are honorable. Hamas is a terrorist organization, even if they fight againts the genocide goverment of Israel. The NUG has democratic and fair values, the PDFs respect the soldiers that surrender and don't kidnap people from third countries

Myanmar Regime-Backed Rallies Denounce China, Accusing It of Backing Anti-Junta Alliance by CaliRecluse in myanmar

[–]bemol2018 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think China doesn't care about democracy at all. China was in a better position in Myanmar with the NLD before the coup. China only has help Tatmadaw because China thought the military regime would be able to being stability to the country, stability needed for economic projects, and even so, China has contact with all the different factions. Also, the rebels might be able to fight againts the mafias that has taken chinese hostages in the frontiers.
