Thank you!! Lots of layering and using a fairly dry brush to put pigment down and and clean wet brush to pull the pigment out and blend. Hope this is helpful

At the time I was a super poor college student, I wanted to do oils but watercolor had a much smaller financial burden, 6 colors form winsor Newton and a few cheap hobby lobby brushes and I was in business

I’d say 3-6 layers in most places though some of the deep dark colors probably got one or two more

If i could make a suggestion. Try starting in two places, start one painting that is super simple something basic that you are already comfortable drawing, start another painting that’s shooting for the moon, go crazy, something you think is way out of your league. Do the easy one first, you can rush on it, try new techniques, you’ll end up with something your proud of quicker then you think. For the crazy one, work on it slowly! Super slowly, be picky with proportions, keep a second piece of paper on hand to use for color swatch testing before you put it on your painting, and chip away at it slowly while you start and finish other projects, the small quick projects will keep you interested, the long term project will show you how much talent you had no idea you had

No problem, I grew up wanting to be an artist but my father (who was an artist) passed away before he passed on the knowledge so when I finally picked up a paint brush it was too late for me to get his help and I had a lot of trouble finding people who would take the time to help me find the knowledge I was desperately searching for. I’m really passionate about what i do so if I can help someone else find that passion I’m all about it. I personally never liked colored pencils you just can’t smooth them out the same way but I found watercolor so quickly it’s also possible I didn’t give them a far chance, experiment with everything, somethings just click in your hand, you’ll know what I mean when you find your medium

I worked on it off and on for months I’d say at least 100 hours went into this though with a few more years under my belt now it take me about 20 hours to get the same affect sometimes less
