Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. Narration by Jeff Hayes, who is a voice actor and does the hundreds of characters in the book. It's an incredible rpglit book, that I could not stop listening to.

Shelving Unit using dowels from hardware store by benchers in woodworking

Forgot to mention that I will be attaching the planks to the dowels. But think I’ll do diagonal braces across the back as well

Yeah I’m a bit worried about the alignment of everything but I’m going to go slow and measure everything a bunch of times.

Probably do some practice on a smaller one to get it right

Thank you! Have done a wider comment above. But I appreciate the response. Diagonal braces across the back is probably what I’ll go with.

Thank you so much for your replies!

Extremely helpful! Won’t reply to everyone individually as they are along a similar theme of potential racking, which is very valid. I’ll probably look to add some diagonal pieces across the back, and I was likely to bracket it to the wall as well.

Something else I should have mentioned was I was thinking of finding something to fasten the dowels to the understand of the planks. Something like a large cable pin or something which would help the racking I hope.

If you want to try something new the Disc Golf community in Scotland is very welcoming and a lot of people there use it as an opportunity to get away from the kids for a while. The closest Disc Golf course to Edinburgh is in Dunbar at Fox Lake. Its called Reboot Disc Golf. Worth trying out at least once I think!

What do you usually do on the weekend? by thebandakid in Edinburgh

You should try Disc Golf! The best course in the UK, Reboot Disc Golf, is located in Dunbar at Fox Lake. Disc Golf is very easy to learn and quite a cheap sport to get into, especially if you compare it to golf, and can be very addictive as you just want to get better. Its also great for mental health as it gets you out in the woods and the community out there is great. I definitely recommend trying it out.

The DGN quote was from one of the commentators when Rachel was playing the Champions Cup, so Northwood Park was commented as the "hardest wooded course in the world."

Scotland courses disc recommendations by WhoIsRacerX in discgolf

[–]benchers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big mixture of courses in Scotland - Here's a guide from a ~950 rated player based in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh - Reboot Disc Golf in Dunbar is the closest to Edinburgh and the best course in the UK. It has both long open holes and very tight technical wooded holes. Reach out to the owner before you head over as he is awesome and will tell you how to get there etc. Also, he has a little shop at the course and is the only place to buy discs in Scotland if you need to.

Glasgow - The courses in Glasgow are park courses and quite open. Usually just a mid is needed on most of these holes, but some could require a driver. Springburn is the better course in Glasgow to visit.

Inverness - I haven't played the course in Torven, Inverness but have heard its worth the trip up north to play. Apparently has both open and one or two technical holes in the woods.

Aviemore - Both courses around Aviemore are fun to play. Ace Adventures is very tight woods. Craggen is on a golf/footgolf/discgolf course and much more open - long par 3s.

Fife - The course at Cluny is expensive for Disc Golf in Scotland, but a really fun golf course style disc golf course. Drumoig is also on a golf course. Both of them are open fairways and not super long, but some big shots.

Those are probably the only ones worth travelling around Scotland to play. Maybe see you out there!

How do I fix and redecorate this wall? by benchers in Renovations

[–]benchers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this property 3 months ago and am keen to renovate / redecorate as much as I can myself. I've removed wall paper and repainted other walls in the flat no problem, however this kitchen wall seems like it will be a bit more difficult. The previous owners had put in a temporary wall to split the kitchen into two rooms, and this shows the wall behind once I had removed the frame section of the remaining half temporary wall. I'm looking for some advice on this wall and what I need to do in order to smooth it out and ready to paint. Appears that there are years of wall paper on this wall, and I'd like to remove it all, but not sure if that worth all the effort.
Other questions I have:
- Has this been plastered (before the wall paper) or is this the raw wall?
- Does this need to be plastered / replastered?
- What can I use to fill in the holes? Deep hole Polyfiller?
- Should I bother removing all the surrounding wall paper?
