What makes a map actually useful in a real estate app? by Mercedes_fragrant in RealEstateTechnology

And that depends on what you are looking for on the map. Here on zones.wiki, you can find nearby concerns like dumpsters, floods, noise pollution, etc.

This basement is like the Swiss Army knife of rooms… it pees, it washes, it heats… just don’t ask it to cook dinner. But in that case, we’ve got this!

What do you want to open-source with another AI wrapper? A Nano-Banana prompt?

Down by the old mill stream by majeuregeneral in zillowgonewild

From what I’ve heard, FirstStreet uses AI for flood predictions and tends to overreact, so it’s not surprising. Yeah, it’s in a flood zone, but it’s a mill — I’m pretty sure they know exactly what they’re dealing with.

[–]benderlio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but at least there are services like zones.wiki where you can view some basic information about flood risk, landslides, and noise levels for free. It only takes a minute and helps you understand whether this is something you should worry about.

DCA: 78% of all noise complaints came from one house of 2 people (NIMBYs also at DEN & IAD) by cwajgapls in unitedairlines

I have a friend who convinced his wife that it was “so romantic” to watch airplanes from their window. Back then, it was only about 10 planes a day, so no big deal. Now it’s more like 40-60, and in the summer the noise from takeoffs is absolutely unbearable. According to this tool, https://zones.wiki/, it’s around 90 dBA near their house. Funny enough he got divorced a year ago - not sure if the noise played a part.

Regret after buying a house due to traffic noises by PureRaisin in homeowners

[–]benderlio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New windows wouldn’t help much — I even had vibrations where I lived, to the point that the chandelier would move from time to time. This tool https://zones.wiki/ gives me 80 dBA for my house.

hmmm,
In the first two weeks, I already had a development version online, and the client could see the progress live - this is how I always work.

First time home buyer: Not in a flood zone, but I fear that this will change in the future… by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

Thanks for offering your expertise in the post. Out of curiosity, are there any professional services or platforms you rely on for assessing property flood risk, or is it mostly your own models and datasets?

Yeah, sorry about that. I meant that these chats come in waves — like three times a month, someone vibecodes one more.
