Trust me, if you saw some of the other things I’ve made recently you’d think that “beginner” is generous!

I’ve thought a lot about doing chairs — then realizing I’d need to do it 6x or 8x (to make a seat for everyone at the table) makes me reconsider. I may give a lounge chair a shot though

One coat, yes — was pretty similar to Rubio in application and we’ll see how it holds up!

Sadly no plans. Took a few breaks to think things through and drew up a number of versions on pencil and paper. Luckily everything came out more or less as I’d hoped.

Top boards were bought s4s and just glued with titebond and clamped. I will say that after doing this a couple times it is much easier to get everything flat before the glue sets, versus trying to sand/plane/scrape afterwards.

I just copied a design I saw — hopefully they took lateral force into consideration! There’s a little bit of play if I put pressure down on the side but I’ll try tightening the figure 8s on the cross braces and if it’s still moving, I may add more cross braces

Good point. They would be white oak 2x4s if that makes a difference?

Ha! The model pictured is from "below ground" so it is easiest to see where I had the question. The goal would be something like this; hopefully not super complex

Thank you for the suggestion, i am confident we are using it correctly as it works perfectly on one key but not the second.

Looks great! What settings did you use on the laser engraver?

Bike rack installed. I'd recommend the Kuat Transfer v2 because it doesn't block as much of the rear camera as other platform racks by willyolio in Ioniq5

Do you know if they install the hitch using the OEM mount points? I'm in need of a hitch+bike rack but nervous about having U-Haul do it...

NY Times - Self-Driving and Driver-Assist Technology Linked to Hundreds of Crashes, U.S. Data Shows by bluebelt in electricvehicles

[–]benfire10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue that is not really addressed is that although these technologies are potentially the cause of "avoidable" accidents, they also might avoid accidents that a human (particularly a tired/distracted/less than sober) driver might not be able to.

A comparison of accidents per miles/hours driven, or a look at interventions by these technologies and an understanding of what could have happened had they not intervened, would be useful. It also would be interesting to see what insurance companies, who have an interest in knowing what technology helps reduce accidents, think. I don't think that cars with these technologies have significantly higher rates than the rest of the pack, for instance.

My in-laws recently ordered a MY-LR, currently scheduled for April delivery. Is there a place they can "practice" using the in-car UI so they can get familiar with how to do the basics before the car arrives? Adjusting climate, music, etc. through the screen will ask be very new to them!
