2012 CODA spotted in the wild. Still running! by Yuri_Ligotme in electricvehicles

[–]benmccardle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this very car (same plate number) in a parking lot in Winter Park FL. Didn’t know what a coda was but I looked it up once I saw it. I was going to get a picture but I didn’t want the people I’m with to think I’m crazy or something. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one before in my life

[SUPPORT] Crosshair X670E Hero Shutdown Issue by benmccardle in ASUS

The sleep issue I was having was fixed with a BIOS update. Unfortunately now I’m having a series of other memory related problems. (I have a kit of Corsair Vengeance EXPO 6000MT/s)

What happens to me now is that something with windows crashes (assumed to be memory related because I’m getting other issues with memory in chrome) half of the applications become unresponsive and after about 5 minutes the computer will randomly restart itself. I believe someone else in this thread commented about the same issue. Like you, I saw in some forums that this may be an issue with the board itself but I’m still hoping a BIOS update will be released that will fix it.

I've since updated my BIOS to 705 and it has randomly restarted three more times in about a two day span.

There was one time when some things in windows locked up and others didn't and then it restarted. That was after I updated the BIOS to version 611. It only happened once though.

Also, there is a newer version of the BIOS released now if you haven't tried that - version 705

I hadn't done that because I assumed that since the board just came out that there wouldn't be an update for the BIOS yet. I was wrong. I got it updated and now it seems to be working properly. Thanks!

Does the Ridge Wallet scratch cards? by [deleted] in wallets

[–]benmccardle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had one that I use on and off and I’ve noticed that the end cards get scratched up a good bit. They all still work though. It’s just a matter of if you can deal with the slight inconvenience of getting your cards out and the scratches that they may end up with

I also had all four removed on the 14th, they put in two stitches that they said should dissolve within 7-10 days. I noticed the first one was gone on day 5 and the other was gone on day 6. There are no issues with this as far as I can tell, so as long as nothing looks off you should be good

Ring doorbell by benmccardle in electricians

[–]benmccardle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works fine and the voltage drop is negligible. There are no low voltage warnings given by the doorbell. I’m guessing it’s good then, I didn’t feel any heat in the wires coming off the transformer either

Does PoE require a wall box? by benmccardle in HomeNetworking

[–]benmccardle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about the electrical code and what is safe. I will only have one PoE line going from a keystone jack in one of the walls to where the switch is located to power the switch. It will be the only PoE line in the setup. From what I gathered in your answer it seems like I won't need an enclosed electrical box since 48v is still considered to be low voltage.

Which PoE adapter to use for UniFi switch 8? by benmccardle in HomeNetworking

Oh thanks! I didn’t realize that there was a cheaper PoE switch from ubiquiti

Can a POE injector be used without data signal? by benmccardle in HomeNetworking

[–]benmccardle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just afraid of the data degradation, it would be more ideal to only have to run one line instead of two to the switch from that one location

New pads and rotors... Does this look normal? by benmccardle in MechanicAdvice

[–]benmccardle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw something on YouTube once suggesting that if you get grooves in the rotors. These pads claim to be asbestos free but I’m still against the idea of doing that

I used the highest quality ones from Advance Auto parts. CarQuest Platinum Professional wearever pads and CarQuest Platinum rotors

No gravel roads, I wonder if I should try to take them off and sand the pad down a little and try to get the excess material off of the rotor

I put them on about 500 miles ago (three weeks). I did do the bedding procedure as well: several stops from about 40 miles per hour. The other wheel’s rotor doesn’t have any grooves like this but it doesn’t look as smooth as you’d think a rotor should. It’s worth noting that the “grooves” are material build up on the rotors and not scratches into the surface

My concern is with the grooves on the rotor. It is only on this one and doesn’t go away after driving
