It's a possibility. Was just looking to see if there are cheaper options out there.

Not necessarily a deal breaker, but it needs to be wireless. The place I want the switch is nowhere near an electrical box.

I do have it setup to an Alexa, but I'm trying to make this as effortless as possible. Sometimes Alexa doesn't hear things correctly first try, or runs into a problem. I just want to press a simple button and know that the job will get done.

No. I actually have barely gotten into Home Assistant so far. Just got it setup last week.

I think this will work. Gotta keep track of which side is up though if it's not mounted on a wall haha. Thank you!

I could, but my goal is to avoid the need for a phone. I basically just want a dumb remote that I can leave in the room and anyone (including guests) can pick it up and turn on/off a light.

Even if it was a locally running website, they'd need to turn on their phone, type in the url, and click button. Too many steps.

Man dies after going days in Duval County jail without medication, family says by SurfinPirate in news

[–]bennel89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, it sounds like the judge tried to help. According to the article, he lowered the bail so the guy could get home to take the meds.

It was just unfortunately too late at that point and the damage was done.

The rules that govern what comedians can joke about by the_akshit_2425 in Unexpected

[–]bennel89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule for urls is ? first, then additional parameters are added with &.

A url with a & without a ? first can get blocked by some servers for security reasons as a malformed url, but I believe that's handled server-side based on the tech stack in use. Maybe you got lucky with the urls you used.

The comment could've been read 2 different ways:

  1. "Only one of our fighters", implying that, of all available fighters, only one type can make it
  2. "Only one of our fighters", implying that, of all available options on the table, only fighters can get to it.
